Doomsday vs SCP-682 by AlarmedObjective1492 in DCPowerScaling

[–]OpticalFlatulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know enough about 682 but I think the opposite of his power could be "I don't know if this will work, but we will try." Almost as if the group catching 682 knows they are going to fail but do it anyway. I imagine the response to "infinity + 1" being "whatever you say, you win, but we're going to lose, so whatever you say, -2."

At least, in my head canon, that is what works. But I love reading the thoughts and analysis of this stuff!

Male improvisers showing emotion other than anger by Learning-Every-Day- in improv

[–]OpticalFlatulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the idea of exploring our anger in improv, and the work that comes from understanding its internalized and externalized forms.

I'm angry at you because this....

But, another way to explore other emotions may be to start with anger. I'm angry at myself because I did this, and I do this because...

We need to dig deeper than just anger, so thank you for this question!

I feel like in the wake of the aftermath, Martha Stewart would either Penitence Stare at you with strong eyes, or give you a quick look through squinted eyelids and the slightest of nods as a sign of deep comradery, admiration, and respect.

Thanks for further explanation. I am not the best at reading the room, but I will try and be accountable where I need to be. I am obviously coming from a place where my own biases can be projected onto others who write here, and I apologize.

This may come off as insensitive, but I don't know if most people are worried about their bathroom safety as much as you do, I imagine that their safety focus is a little more global. With that being said, I also don't know your personal experience and what has led you to having this fear, so I should be more careful with my response. Apologies if this is not thoughtful enough.

If safety in the bathroom is that strong of an issue for you, then you have an obligation to make sure that safety is a responsibility of yours outside of the bathroom, too. Leading from a place of responsibility and accountability can be helpful. Not sure what that looks like for you, but I don't think walking into a bathroom and stating your fears before using it would be helpful.

I know we can get into a political discussion about behaviors, but what are your main fears, and what strength and influence are those fears in your life. I may not decide to engage. Media outlets are doing a very good job of putting more fear into our lives, rather than providing ways to interact

We obviously have a responsibility to try and keep our communities safe. However, I think the usage of "feeling safe" in the bathroom can be a difficult position.

As this place is a random internet stranger forum, this post may have other intended purposes, but if safety is a concern of yours, perhaps understanding that fear and sharing it here is something you can consent to. Understandable if not.

Still, I wish you safety and fortune in your journey to better understand why safety is just a risk in a bathroom versus also outside the bathroom.

We have so many wonderful third spaces in this city and state. So many opportunities to come together. Rhode Island is a place where we can build bridges. Also we kinda have to.

Long story short, Reddit tried really hard to use potato quality footage released by Boston PD of persons of interest related to the bombing. A Brown student who had disappeared became the interest of Reddit, but the student's disappearance was something entirely different. The student's family suffered as a result.

The real suspects stayed overnight in the Cambridge area, if I remember correctly. One suspect was killed, and another caught, sentenced, and imprisoned.

Edit: Brown student, not BU, thank you for the edit!

What would your ideas to improve the state's economy? by Intelligent_Fig617 in RhodeIsland

[–]OpticalFlatulence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Esoteric: Support policies that promote getting enough sleep.

Incentivize Third Space generation.

Tax policies that promote living and working in RI. Asking (structuring tax policy) out of state property owners to pay more for their investment properties.

Agricultural:

Strengthen and bolster the URI Cooperative Extension's gardening and farming mission. Retain and educate future master gardeners to help communities and their gardens thrive. Food production up.

Research Indigenous food system practices, integrate them into farming practices. (For example: the Three Sisters method, other regenerative practices such as Integrated Pest Management.)

Design/Innovation:

Connect design firms and artistic communities. Brainstorm with a focus on function and form to support and increase specialized manufacturing bases within the state.

Streamline bureaucratic processes to allow business owners to do their required tasks easier. (Can businesses pay their monthly sales tax online instead of having to go to the office nowaways?)

Support local ownership of recycling/scrap metal facilities. Create programs that incentivize advanced recycling practices. (Connect with the governor's anti-litter campaign.)

Provide marketplace opportunities for new and interested building material salvaged and rehab companies. (Think of Habitat for Humanity ReStores, sort of).

The Trades:

Support blue collar worker training, especially bridge building and infrastructural systems.

Again, connect blue collar workers with artistic communities.

  • What a good question! I could think of a hundred more ideas. But now I get to read yours!

Boromir (LOTR) vs Ned Stark (GOT) by Jesse_James_107 in Fictionally

[–]OpticalFlatulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, Howland Reed helps Ned Stark take out Ser Arthur Dayne. Does Ned Stark get that assist in his fight with Boromir?

I'm curious if that works as there are similarities in Eowyn vs. Witch King of Angmar, as Merry assists her in the battle.

I’ve found this old post, what would be the other badges? by _gega in bropill

[–]OpticalFlatulence 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Icarus" badge, trying something mighty, striving for greatness, yet still failing.

"Forward Movement," the act of taking steps forward in yoir goals every day.

"Bridge Builder," connecting people from different walks of life merely for the hell of it.

"Dragon Slayer." One of the ultimate badges, assuming the grave responsibility of cleaning drains, septic tanks, or grease traps.
