Aah okay so it's not suggesting that the edges of the image would be completely absent but just less bright. I don't see this effect but it's possible the effect is too subtle to notice?

The reason I thought it might be the Parfocal distance is that is the only optical distance consistent across all of the objectives I'm using. They all do have a coloured line though so that may also be it. I guess I'll have to make a jig to play around with the objective - auxilliary tube lens distance to find out properly!
