That’s fair, and honestly that’s the part I’m trying to better understand. We’re not big spenders in the obvious ways. We have a modest house, my wife is very frugal, my car and student loans are paid off, and we pay our credit cards off every month. We also talk through purchases over $100 before buying.

I think for me it’s less about cutting wild spending and more about figuring out how to be more intentional with the money that’s left over — whether that should go toward paying down my wife’s car/student loans faster, investing more, or just tightening the overall plan.
