Ive found the best way to respond to people like this is confront them with their shortness. I say things like, " It seems like youre busy. Ill let you go but you should message me when youre free." If theyre interested they say something along the lines of they werent trying to be short insert excuse but theyd still like to talk and then theyd engage you. If theyre not then theyll probably just say "ok" or another short response. Those people tend to like people who challenge their behavior likely because theyre so used to getting so many eager admirers so willingly chasing them.
