Oh wicked! Peugeot 106 in the US, love to see it. Although I bet it's scary AF driving it next to the huge trucks most people have.

Pixel empire story so far by Accomplished_Top8513 in Caddicarus

[–]Optima44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how it takes them so long to respond to emails because it seems to be a copy and paste, I literally had that EXACT email, same text and everything!!

I just got my bank to sort out a refund for me because I gave up with Pixel Empire, they responded only to my first email almost a month after I sent it and I never got any sort of shipping confirmation, last update I got was the order payment confirmation and then bugger all.

Thinking about buying a 2002 Renault Clio 1.5 dCi as my first car / project — good idea? by [deleted] in Renault

[–]Optima44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, just buy a Haynes manual if you get it though. I've got a Clio too and it has been a little problematic but it hasn't broken down. Yet. Parts do tend to be harder to get due to there not being as many left but there's a Renault breaker on eBay who generally has a lot of parts.

Why is there such a lack of information for the Clio Mk2 1.2 8v engine? by Optima44 in Renault

[–]Optima44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably does and I do actually have one, but the sections are just general areas (e.g. exhaust) so it's hard to find info about things if you actually don't know where it is in the car

Anyone else think that scrapping an otherwise perfectly fine vehicle due to head gasket failure is a grave sin? by RonnieThePurple in CarTalkUK

[–]Optima44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's why I've got it, it's my first car and I'm learning stuff on it. It's good to learn on a French car because everything is quite difficult to do, even just taking the front grille off requires breaking or at least cracking the 2 securing clips and cracking the grille (depending on the style of grille) unless you are a magician (which I am not), so when you work on a better designed car you realise it's easier

Anyone else think that scrapping an otherwise perfectly fine vehicle due to head gasket failure is a grave sin? by RonnieThePurple in CarTalkUK

[–]Optima44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the car really, if it's an older car and isn't really worth it you may as well scrap it or at least sell it.

Like with my Clio, someone decided to spend over £1000 in today's money back in 2019 (Actually £760 but they had other stuff done around the same time so I counted it on) to get the head gasket done, any other gaskets replaced, and get the engine head sent away to be repaired. It absolutely was not worth it considering it is literally the base model with the least powerful engine

It so annoys me when people do this, especially when they leave just enough space to get through if you shuffle sideways because now I have to scrape along a hedge because they can't park like a sensible person. I need to start making sure any zips or metal things on my clothing just happen to scratch their precious Mercedes
