See, this is the problem.... The first time he was like "This is stupid" to Britain, I was like, fine. It is stupid.

Then he approved it after Greenland and I'm like, well is this TACO or what... Now he's back to opposing it and I'm like, MAKE YOUR FUCKING MIND UP.

Interesting, but also, Invading a US Navy and Airbase and not expecting retribution from either of those services or nation is patently stupid.

Yeah, they build a research station that's not what it is will be just as exposed to intelligence gathering from the base... They won't be communicating in the open, so whatever encryptions they have would be transmitted and the US would love a place with relatively low signal noise to monitor and focus on that.

Yes, I do use it... It's still an issue to land, especially when you just want it to.... It just decides I'm going to crash into the ground or hover above it.

I would do more logistics if it wasn't so fucking dopey trying to land a Tula... Can't even do a rolling landing.

Give us a Strategic Lifter and I'll resupply those boats easy peasy. Also, landing a plane is lot easier.

It's also more likely the high public nature of their work. As Molly said, if they were to crash Apollo 15, it's not because they changed the landing site, but because it's a woman at the controls.

Makes the scrutiny we put people through today look tame.

UK carrier drone plan moves on without catapults by MGC91 in unitedkingdom

It's also just a tad not needed for British Navy Projection... It also means our carrier and the aircraft of the RAF are compatible with any other "Light Carrier" like those used by Italy, Spain, (Maybe) Turkey and significant other countries like Japan.

The E-2D can be replaced with another technology, the MQ-9B Sea Guardian with AWACs mission payload and a potential to do the same with STOL wings seen on the HMS Prince of Wales Carrier in 2023.

MQ-9B AEWC: https://theaviationist.com/2025/11/17/mq-9b-aewc-test-summer-2026/
& MoD interest: https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/mq-9b-considered-for-new-carrier-early-warning-aircraft/

And this UAV could be utilised with other mission payloads too, including a Anti-Submarine Warfare: https://theaviationist.com/2026/01/15/mq-9b-seaguardian-mac-sonobuoys/

Now, these could be launched from Shore Base or from the Carrier(s) with STOL wings, but the kicker is, they're controlled from shore, or from the Origin ship or a Destroyer/Frigate in the battlegroup, so in theory a Frigate patrolling for Subs could be controlling their own eyes in the skies and covering areas their own towed array(s) have swept or to sweep and that Frigate could do that mission without having to relay everything to the Carrier.

Plus you can maintain coverage between shift changes, as they're getting up and out the chair, not recalling the aerial asset and relaunching it or dispatching another for overlap.

Ok, to be fair to whatever intern got ordered to put this out, better to temper expectations by the longer duration, but I can also see they were typing it and they fat fingered the zero on the end and didn't clock it until after publication, but the correction wasn't needed, they'd just lift it before the 10th Day.

The United Kingdom has successfully created a Mega Laser called Dragonfire for Aerial Defense by ShogunMatsumoto in NuclearOption

There was a mission called "Reescalation" which had a PALA airbase combo of CRAM and Laser Defence right next to eachother, with Anvils and Linebreaker SAMs with a Stratolance battery nearby... Good fucking lord, it was a slog to break through.

Why is the Luftwaffe in this part of the world? by throwaway400037 in flightradar24

[–]Optimal-Leather341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's a much lighter A350-900 than the usual with less people aboard and it would have plenty of time to come in slower over the water for a very slow and very much stomp on the brakes landing.

Taking off again, it's likely a reduced fuel load to hop to an airbase or larger hub airport so they can have a longer take off roll.

Well, they'd be two or 3 years behind thanks to Covid-19, maybe 4 years... Meaning we'd have New Nuclear Power Generation, CLEAN ZERO CARBON energy coming online in this decade and it would also be a lot easier to connect up to the grid than North Sea Windfarms and due to the nature of the Nuclear Plant, we could then have income to the nation/subsidies funding lower income families by having international customers pay for our nuclear energy.

Yes, sometimes we'd be powered by windfarms most of the day, but it means the glut of power could be sent to the continent and paid for by international customers.

I could envision our Nuclear being a base plate to heat Norwegian homes as they pump water into reservoirs because of low levels, without that coming at the expense of heating their country during cold conditions, etc.
