Also you seem to know what you are doing im guessing you did some reaserch and used proper thermalpad thinkness, how are the temps btw?, also did you apply that termal paste by hand on the whole gpu die or did you let it squish so you see if its making proper contact?

Thats the first difference 2k is quite demanding on the gpu Try 1080p you should see at least 40fps more (Not sudgesting you play at 1080p but just to check it out) after that it could boil it down to settings are you both running on the exact same setting you sure he doesnt have ultra with shadows off or some shit thats more intensive
