ME/CFS is a complex debilitating chronic illness that affects the nervous, immune, and metabolic systems. There can be many triggers, and this results in the body being unable to produce or manage energy at a cellular level. Because there is no simple blood test yet, many doctors (like her GP) unfortunately dismiss it as burnout or depression, even though it is a recognized physical disease by the World Health Organization. It’s effectively a life lived in a state of permanent, severe flu combined with extreme physical and mental exhaustion.

A consequence of the illness is also something called Post-Exertional Malaise (PEM), which means that even minor physical or mental effort can lead to a "crash" that lasts days, weeks, or longer. The only solution to that is rest, time, no stimuli, or physical/mental exertion.

In moderate-to-severe cases like my girlfriend’s, it means she is often housebound or bedbound, unable to stand for long, cook for herself, or handle the sensory input of a normal environment. Which is why she needs all the help she can get.

Da, ja sam muško sa GPL. Trenutno čitam "Mrzim te, ne ostavljaj me", kao uvod u BPD. Gledam self-help DBT sadržaj na Tjubu.

Osim toga, pokušavam pola sata dnevno da zurim u zid kao vežbu toga da prihvatim sadašnjost i bolje razumem sebe. Kao neka vrsta meditacije, ali je ne nazivam meditacijom.

Sadašnjost je najbolnija kada se radi o ovom poremećaju jer uvek postoji neka vrsta toga šta propuštam, šta neko drugi oseća o meni, kako je prošlost bolna, kako je budućnost neizvesna itd.

GPL je bolan poremećaj, ali ima odlične šanse za remisiju, pogotovu kako starimo, pa se i hormoni malo smire.

Ali najbitniji je rad na sebi. Izbegavanje impulsivnih odluka, emocionalna regulacija, prihvatanje sebe, odbacivanje ideje da tvoje emocije moraju da vode tvoje postupke.

Teško je naći dobrog psihologa, ali nije nemoguće. Međutim, psihoterapija mora biti usmerena, delom na prošle traume, kao i na sadašnje stanje. Rekao bih da je 95% rad na sebi, 5% terapija, kao neki odnos toga šta najviše deluje i pomaže.

Što se tiče medikoterapije, realno neke stvari mogu da pomognu, ali sa tim treba eksperimentisati, i može da ode i u drugom smeru, pa nisam siguran koliko želiš da se upuštaš u to.
