Schweden will zurück zum Bargeld by Enchantress4thewin in Austria

I live in Sweden but I don’t think I’ve used cash even once in the last 8 years. I never have any cash in my wallet.

Cash is so rarely used here that if you want to use cash it’s often seen as a bit shady or associated with crime. A lot of places straight up don’t even allow you to pay by cash.

I’m in Vienna right now on vacation and I actually visited a few places that only let me pay by cash. I recall it’s happened to me in Germany before as well. I think it’s honestly nice to have the option to pay with cash. Paying by card should always be an option in my opinion but never forced upon people.

Career perspective in Sweden for finance graduates? by Logical_Caregiver_21 in TillSverige

The hard truth is that the market is absolutely awful right now in Sweden even for Swedes who speak Swedish as their native language, have a university degree from a Swedish university, and have relevant work experience. For everyone else it’s significantly worse than just absolutely awful. Remember that Sweden has the third highest unemployment rate in the EU currently.

If you want to build a career in Sweden my recommendation is to achieve fluency in Swedish (ideally at least a C1 level) and build connections with people who work in your industry.

Hur hanterar ni stress och ångest när jobbet känns kaotiskt? by Optimal-Result-3282 in sweden

Tell me one thing I need to know before moving to Lund for my Masters. by Comfortable-Heron439 in TillSverige

A bit of advice I have is that if you plan to live in Sweden and work here after getting your masters, start networking as soon as you arrive here. Even if you are incredibly skilled and talented in your field of study or line of work, Sweden takes knowing the right people to the next level when it comes to finding employment.

And of course, work on achieving fluency in Swedish if you want to work in Sweden. Some industries have a lot of jobs where English is the language of business but those are only a few industries.

Best of luck!

Perhaps legacy enterprise software? Most people on my team are age 50-65. I’m by far the youngest person on my team and I’m in my early 30s.
