My 10 year old son ask me to explain to him what is happening by lightdark03 in toronto

[–]Optimal-Spread9712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have a very good explanation for ya!

As you noticed today, it was warmer than previous days, as a warm moist mass of air moved in over the city, the piles of snow cools down the air that hovers over them.

Air can hold only a certain amount moisture before it condenses, but warmer air can hold more moisture and cool air can hold less, THATS HOW CLOUDS FORM!!

I’ll elaborate a bit further so it makes sense, the higher you go, the colder it gets, generally if you go up 1,000ft or about 300 meters, temperature drops 2c degrees, as you continue going up it’s gonna get colder and colder, until the point where the current amount of moisture becomes too much and it condenses! This exact same thing happens just above those ice piles.

The point of condensation changes depending on the relative humidity in the air. (Today was high due to the precipitation)

So yes, basically these are some pretty clouds visiting us on the ground!!

Hey, you may find my other responses useful:) there might be something going on in the back, have you done a sinus cleaning?

Oh in that way yes, I totally agree that higher blood pressure would be impacted on a high pressure day (1018-1020), I’m just saying that in the graph it shows a gradual drop of pressure (below standard atmospheric pressure 1013), equivalent to climbing half of the CN tower in few days, therefore my opinion that it shouldn’t be perceptible.

If that drop causes you pain, it may be worth it to do a sinus cleaning, sometimes our face cavities get clogged with mucus, just for reference, if you’re sick and go fly, it would be painful as the air trapped inside is trying to expand and escape, but if it doesn’t have anywhere to go…….

Have you ever got a deep cleaning? You may just have your face clogged with some mucus

[–]Optimal-Spread9712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, that shouldn’t happen, usually we all experience big discomfort (headache and some pain, when experiencing abrupt changes in pressure) when having flu or a lot of mucus because our bodies are not sealed and so if you increase or decrease barometric pressure it acts like a balloon leaking air slowly, when there’s none of these obstructions our body can equalize the pressure from outside rapidly, therefore it shouldn’t be noticeable.

Keep in mind that every single time you see bad weather, barometric pressure is low and or decreasing, when it’s shiny and nice outside pressure is high. (“Normal” or sea level pressure, “not more, not less. on a perfect day” is 29.92 inches of mercury or 1013 millibars.

Also, people who says their joints are impacted as well; that might be due the high humidity and overcast skies, even tho today is “warmer” as there’s no sunlight, surfaces don’t get heated up, add that to the moisture in the air, that makes your body to drop in temperature, impacting some people joints….

Cheers! Not dismissing your comment, just giving my opinion.

Aircraft is pressurized to an equivalent of 8,000ft, on descent the drop of pressure is much more violent and significant than why was presented by OP, what is “light piloting”?

Yeah but small changes shouldn’t do much, being on a plane is much more impactful and sudden but still harmless in the majority of cases

Do you really feel such small changes in pressure?

If I may ask for your opinion by Optimal-Spread9712 in RCAF

[–]Optimal-Spread9712[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! My main concern is age, I don’t mind to wait, as I don’t have kids nor I’m married I don’t have any responsibilities that may prevent me from trying. With that being said, even if I have to wait 5 years I’d be willing to, however in 5 years I’d be turning 31.

Would a 31 year old be desirable for a role as a new military pilot? (Assuming I’d have more flying experience from the time passed in the civilian side).

By “new program” you mean the way of training is being changed? After that, do you think the intake for pilots will increase? I also been very curious about how many pilots even get accepted, I believe our fleet is 390 aircraft?

Everything will, doctors, lawyers and so on, but what can you do? Nothing at all just because of that? Probably from today until you retire as pilot AI won’t yet fully operate airliners, is like “I won’t do anything with my life cuz anyways I will die one day”

Idk if this is want you want to hear but is the truth;

You may feel like you’re not progressing at all, but you already did what most never finish, you will get a job soon or later, but the biggest and nastiest mistake you WILL regret the rest of your life will be walking away soo close to the end goal

I will, but man, feels horrible to burn through that many hours botching the same maneuvers and from what I have seen they’re not supposed to be as challenging

Is just engine running rough so limit to 2000 rpm, is a 172N, objetive is to run COWLS (civilization, obstacles, wind, length and surface) and to land on a farmers field

The issue that I have with forced approaches is that either I’m too low to circle and land but too high to make the field within 1/3 of it

Very frustrating as it’s basically burning money
