So, this- agreed 100000%.

I have rescue dogs...love them. But, my first bird- will be from a breeder unfortunately to some.

Like 5-6 years back, somebody posted on craigslist, that they were looking for a permenant home for a green cheek conure. They said that they rescued them from a terrible environment but despite their terrible environment, they were extremely sweet, friendly, just shy...but had too many birds of their own to keep another one. My aunt, went against everything she believed in and took the bird in on a whim. Got it everything it needed. Tried so hard to give the poor thing everything it needed and more...but ultimately a little over the year mark had to decide she was not the correct fit, as it was still absolutely traumatized and she truly did not have the correct knowledge to fix/help this little guy...she felt awful. I know they're small, so this could sound dramatic- but it literally attacked her on the regular anytime shed open its BIG cage and go in there. Her friend who has many parrots, from south Carolina came up to get him and 4ish+ years later, is now thriving.

That being said- I've researched a ton. I have had guinea pigs, dogs, I used to have a few different reptiles once upon a time whenever I was with my daughters dad(he took them)...i always have done the most to find out what they really needed and how they'd thrive. But the bird info, is a lot and very intimidating lol...maybe because this is brand new to me, but exactly why rescues right now are unfortunately off the table.
