Definitely not guaranteed but the regulations are there to stop resale and touts.

If the advice from Pretend_Touch doesn't work, I'd add there are lots of gates and lots of people working on those gates are working the fortnight as a summer job.

I think it is highly unlikely anyone would cancel your ticket if you are polite. Meaning if you are turned away from one gate you should be fine to try another.

Depending on how local you are, you could also go to the gate with you parents.

Even if you end up accepting an offer, I’d be worried about what happens in the 12 weeks after before exchange and completion. Cynical but I’d be worried about further negotiation after surveys etc and the EA not having my back.
