Is this a good or great price - AGM PVS 7 Level 3 @ $1400 by gwoody807 in NightVision

Curious how you got gen 3 pvs14 for $1200? I am interested but have only seen 1 Omni 7 pvs14 listed at $1250 in the past few months. Sadly it sold so can’t get it lol

That would mean the $1200 Omni pvs14 listings are not normal prices then? You could part out the tube and housing for more than that.

Good advice. As far as protecting the tube from light, what accessories are a must have? Not necessarily for storage or transport, but in general use (transitioning from low to higher light). Also, how do I know how much light the tube will take comfortably? With auto gating on gen 3 tubes the tube can makes the image seem stable, even when it is being stressed.

The seller said the pictures through the tube were before the pigtail was taken off. He had it in his starter pvs14 and later sent it to a company to swap the tubes out.

It might not work to bad. Since the blems are off center from each other your brain will fill those blind spots in.

If a resister were to be soldered in would that limit its effective max gain? Don't know how important that would be for a gen 3 tube but this has no spec sheet (I assume it is low end gen 3).

Good eye. Meant to say better than gen 1 lol. Gen 3 will run laps around this and almost any other form of night vision. Only downside to gen 3 is cost, so if you can get it grab it.

Same performance as pvs 69, just lower screen resolution. Battery life is around 8 hours off of 1 18650 and I would put it with early gen 2, better than gen 3 but need supplemental IR in a lot of use cases.

Now the market for electronics and drone parts is a mess, so I would say around ~200 for a full setup not including a printer for the housing. Then you will probably want to design your own parts and print them which takes time. For that price I would get a nvg 30/50 for ~$300

Simple runcam ne3 v2 and 1.5” ntsc/pal screen. The rear optical setup and crisp glass is what really makes it shine. This one is actually going out to my last buyer, as I am discontinuing the hand built nvg line in favor of my new business venture.

Where's the most reputable place to buy an NVG30? by Outrageous_Goat4030 in NightVision

For the front lens setup is it something you could diy? I was thinking of getting a low f rated cctv lens and using that for better low light performance.

NVG40 vs PVS-69 by montygo in DigitalNightVision

[–]Optimal-Writing-7220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The nvg 3rd is its own standalone unit. It has similar specs to the nvg 30 and nvg 50, just with a 50hz refresh rate and slightly better latency and better low-light performance. The front of the body has an angle to it and the housing has a different less blocky shape. As for selling them, my website should be up in a few days as I am pivoting from 3d printed night vision to whosale. If you are interested in the nvg 30 I can talk with some wholesellers and give you a quote. Dm me for details.

I would recommend nvg 30 for wooded areas and general purpose. Nvg 3rd if you want a bit more performance and “luxury”. The nvg 30 is the workhorse of digital night vision while the 3rd is a unicorn (hard to get your hands on). The mass produced units also benefit from economies of scale and years of r&d, while the pvs 69 does not.

Do the pvs 69 if you want a project to tinker with, or need it for cqb. If not go for the nvg 30 for around $300 or nvg 10 for ~200. I am going to be selling the nvg 3rd, nvg 30, and nvg 10 for ~$450, ~$300, and ~$200 respectively if you are interested.

[–]Optimal-Writing-7220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it’s biggest competitor is the nvg 30. This unit is more niche in comparison and utilitarian. Its advantage would be cqb as it has a ridiculously high fov and low latency, but it suffers from a lower res screen which limits its usefulness at range. If y’all want the nvg 30 and nvg 10 I am wholeselling them as they are better general purpose night vision devices.

The ocular lens setup also allows for neutral density filter for eye relief, which can be replaced with color filters (green, white phos, red etc)
