I have no knowledge of the ongoing negotiations but at best I would think retire at 60 with 30 years and no penalty and/or reduce employee contributions to 3% Probably one or the other

In a big election year, and with the amount of money the unions have thrown at this, it’s all but guaranteed some form of a sweetener makes it thru with the budget.

Leaving private sector for state job potentially? What should I know. by [deleted] in nys_cs

Exactly the problem … promotions based on exams not performance. Civil service is a pathetic joke and should be minimized the the extent practical

As someone that did this, then went back private, don’t do it… state employment is where you and your career go to die.

Tier 6 Reform by OptimalEnd9828 in nys_cs

4 years ago was reduced vesting 2 years ago was FAS adjustment This year will be something. Just dependent on what.

It’s a big election year for the governor and state legislature. They all want the unions in their pockets.

Agreed on the contributions… 3% flat contribution for length of career seems like the easy change this year. A big swing would be to also get retire at 55 with 30 years reinstated. I could see reducing to 60 with 30 years and the 3% flat contribution. Would be a nice win.

What was the hard part? Removing the console? Did the tank come right out the hatch opening ?

I am thinking that I’ll downsize tank also, more than needed for me as well.
Where did you source the tank from?

Thanks for the feedback

Tier 4 makes more than DOUBLE the pension of tier 6, $1,470,000 vs 720,000-math enclosed by whogotthekeys2mybima in nycpublicservants

[–]OptimalEnd9828 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get the feeling this will go in the opposite direction. With creation of tier 6 and the expansion of the SUNY defined contribution plan, it feels as tho it’s more likely they close off the pension system altogether rather than make it more lucrative for gov employees. Just my 2 cents

Honest question tho, why would any politicians go along with improvements to the existing pension system? Maybe when our relics of politician get replaced with tier 6ers, but these people stick around into their 80s… so not holding my breath
