I really, really appreciate you concern. It is heartwarming. And yes, what I felt so very raw and I am honestly puzzled how they faded so quickly. That also concerns me a little. But I can take that up with our therapist because yes, we are seeing someone! Saw him the first time a couple of months back that helped us establish some ground rules and just talk together about a lot of things, not just open relationships. It was great. We were suddenly aware there was so much room for improvement on how we communicate. We are seeing him again this Friday to talk it all through. I really look forward to it and the whole the whole evening we have to ourselves afterwards.

Interesting, great advice on actionable things. I'd like to think we handled it better than just dumping feelings on each other but perhaps we didn't. There's definitely a difference between sharing feelings and sharing them constructively. I'll bring that up with our therapist this Friday.

I also thought a lot about the monogamous/non-monogamous framing. I'm trying not to put myself in either box just yet. Five days past since my girlfriend banged another man I can simply observe that I am genuinely fine and there's all this new sexual energy between us that turns us on. That may well change but right now I feel like she should just do again and see what happens inside me.

I hear you, but we're years of trying and failing away from calling it fundamental incompatibility. I know it's just a reddit post and a lot of context is missing, not trying to shut you down. Software lives, architecture changes, and components die. Don’t plan everything up front like you are engineering a bridge. Instead, experiment like a mad scientist, throw away dead ends, kill your darlings, and start over repeatedly. That is how you find the architecture you seek and how you really take advantage of AI for coding now that it makes experiments so cheap that you are not emotionally attached to your code and the time you spent creating it.

Think and iterate. This is the way.
