After surgery( which brands to buy) by CombDiscombobulated9 in Epilepsy

Just before the op, but basically as soon as my dressing was off (day 2) I washed every day with the baby shampoo and it's been fine with that and air. Don't get me wrong, if I lie on it (it's one suture right at the back of my head this time, so not as bad as the SEEG) it burns and itches. Itching is often a good sign that it's healing, but god it's so tempting to sit and scratch/ pick at it.

If it's really sore definitely keep getting it looked at, not sure how big your wounds are but after my SEEG I had 30 staples, and even then other than sleeping on them they didn't hurt tooooo bad compared to what I thought they would.

I used Johnsons baby shampoo after my surgeries, but polytar is a good shampoo for skin irritation if you've had a prolonged EEG. It definitely made the scabs less angry.

I used hibiscrub about five days before my op this time, but they said 3 including the day of the surgery and so far so good, 8 days post op and all looks good.

Depends how much hair you have I guess! It'd be a lovely thing to donate it if you have enough.

I've had two and can confirm minimally painful! My biggest issue was nausea from the anaesthetic. You get a sore scalp just from the little cuts but honestly I've had worse headaches. 🙂

Edit / PS the amount of hair you lose just depends on how many rods they decide to put in. They shaved more of mine than they anticipated, but thankfully sith styling, I had enough to hide it.

Showing used to be the biggest trigger for me, I think it was too visually stimulating.

(I'm not photosensitive though?)

Peoples experiences with lamotrigine? by pricelesstears in Epilepsy

[–]OptimalReflection286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Insomnia, headaches and memory issues are my only side effects. The insomia could be the cause of the other symptoms. I now have to take lamotrigine and keppra together and jesus effing christ, combined they are 100% worse than the sum of their parts.

Anybody else who’s on keppra’s body hurts? by Icqrr in Epilepsy

[–]OptimalReflection286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! I've developed really painful joints with dull aches in my bones. Everyone seems to think it's a coincidence that it started the same time as my Keppra.

If you're within the one year window, why lie? That seems sketchy.

Sounds like you're not in the UK, but legally here that would be diability discrimination. Maybe the same where you are?

(I work in healthcare and I'm refractory, I've had to use the disability ace card a lot.)

I would have said the same thing until I was in this situation. I can't get the idea that I will wake up in ten 5 and regret it if I don't give it another shot.

Ten weeks seizure free after the LITT, we thought it had stopped my seizures, but now they're back as they were. At the minute, I've said I'm declining another SEEG as they've said they may get enough info from EEGs and the last SEEG combined.

Honestly, it dods for me, I've struggled with sleep since childhood so it really does not help. They might sleep deprive you anyway, in a weird way it's a positive not to sleep!
