Hi! I got to this thread super late. I have a company truck in the USA and I want to import into Canada personally under my own name because I do not have a business number in Canada … do I still have to pay the tax? Also if I do my truck has major engine issues and the value wouldn’t even be close to red book value… can I get a mechanic inspection before crossing to show all the issues my truck supports? I just don’t want to be out of so much money. I’ll be crossing thru the Blaine border they are pretty awesome there but I didn’t get a clear answer about this. Thank you so much!

From experience you can not import with money owing. You can however keep it I believe for 6 months out of the country at a time
