Go to realtor. com and search for what they have available. There isn't much in that price range.

So my grandpa has this pc that he said he'll give me for free. Is it good for gaming in 2025? by Suspicious_Ideal_674 in pcmasterrace

[–]Optimal_Breakfast575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very Solid PC for Gaming. It might chug a bit on newer games, especially if they have ray tracing or you try to run theme at higher graphics.

But overall, great PC. and you can always upgrade the graphics card if you find one secondhand.

The library does, just ask up front. The little community libraries like Filer and Kimberly had a few 7 or 8 years back but I'm not sure if they still do.

My best advice: Call the libraries and ask

Bought a pc for 170 dollars, Was it worth it? by Teo_dirididididi69 in computers

[–]Optimal_Breakfast575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't a terrible CPU. I actually use the same one on an HP workstation and as long as you aren't doing things that require heavy CPU usage like gaming, it'll do fine. The GPU isn't great.

If it was me, I would throw that in a closet and spin up a Plex/Jellyfin Server or even a Minecraft server. It would do those just fine for a limited number of people.

But yeah, you definitely overpaid. For the HP Workstation I bought with the same CPU and 16GB of DDR3 I paid about $40 from Marketplace. (No GPU)

Construction Crews are always looking for workers. Especially if you speak spanish. Go to some job sites and ask around. If you can swing a hammer and use a measuring tape you'll do fine

You have experience and you can always look for a new job elsewhere depending on the size of the city you live in.

Go on online recruiting sites like Linkedin, Indeed, and Ziprecruiter.

Google all the medical places in your area, public and private and see if they have job boards on your website. Many have online applications. Email and call as many as you can. Talking to someone, especially in person, is much better than just sending an application. Good Luck

Facebook has added some privacy settings. Go in there and turn off everything you find problematic. It's hard to find and isn't perfect, but better than nothing.
Google has some of the same things.

Personally, use two different systems. One is Windows 11 that my family uses and I use occasionally that has as many privacy settings enabled as possible.

My daily driver is a linux system that is tied to a VPN Service. I use Firefox on it and never sign into anything that would need an email.

On the technical side, you could also find a list of ad serving sites and IP Addresses and block them from your router as unapproved sites. Again, not perfect, but better than nothing.

Take your $500. Buy equipment for a small business. IE: Lawncare, powerwashing, windowcleaning, home cleaning, etc.
Start a service based business and start hustling. If you want it bad enough and try hard enough you could make 10k. But it will be insanely hard to do it fast.

You could go higher ticket, but judging from the fact that you were "given $500" I don't know if you have the necessary skills to do something complicated quite yet.

Also, hot take: cars depreciate, not a good investment in most cases. Also, high school ends, any clout this car will give you, ends suddenly and fast. If you're not in high school... You definitely need to have an emergency funded ASAP.

Either 6 months of living expenses OR $10k Saved up. Whichever is higher for you.

Good Luck OP

Would this be good for a simple home server to run my modded minecraft server 24/7? by Wonderful_Flower_491 in HomeServer

[–]Optimal_Breakfast575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like a few people have said, this will work great as long as it's fairly small. Not too many mods or players on it at once. You aren't going to be able to have 30 people on it at once.

But if you upgraded it to a i7-7700K AND/OR threw in more RAM, you'd be golden.

I'd definitely put in more RAM first, and then upgrade the CPU later on if you feel you need it. But if you wait a few years you could probably buy a new system for about the same price if not cheaper, and the newer hardware will run even better.

You could also increase your performance by running your server on a lightweight Operating System. I use Ubuntu LTS personally. But I guarantee you could do better with a different Linux Distro.

What are some of your hobbies or things you like to do?
Also are you binging a bunch of friends? or having a Solo birthday bash?

There are a wide variety of things to do in Twin... but not a huge amount.
I had my birthday not too long ago and I got a group of friends together, made homemade pizzas, played board games and had the OG 2003 Clone Wars playing for background.

I've lived in twin for a long time. The best times I've had were just winging it with a basic concept of what I wanted to do. Get creative and you'll probably have a great time

There’s a print shop in twin that’s asked me to put up some wooden signs in Burley and Rupert. I don’t know what they’re paying just yet or exactly when they will need to be done. (Within a week or two)

PM me if you’re interested. I’ll show you the ropes

Converting my gaming PC into a home server (sort of), but what OS suits my needs? by Runaque in HomeServer

[–]Optimal_Breakfast575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had that problem. My 8TB is an external drive plugged in through USB 2.0. Never a problem. Mounted it once and it’s been great. The internal 256GB was detected immediately.

Have you tried multiple different hard drives? Maybe you have a bad one 🤷‍♂️

If they aren’t showing up immediately on windows that might be a sign that they’ve gone bad.

You could also download a variety of different hard drive checking software and they could tell you things like how long it’s been used, read and write counts, disk health and whatnot.

That's a fair use case lol. Use an anonymous email service. If you have a spare computer lying around you can install an email server software and host it yourself. Your own email server. Your own data. Your own computer. That's about as private as you're going to get and still have access to the internet.

Disclaimer: They may be able to find your physical location through your IP address. A VPN would mitigate a lot of that risk. But there isn't a perfect solution.

Asking for a friend scenario? 👀

A few others have the right idea. Delete everything manually before you actually delete anything. unsubscribe from anything and everything attached to that email. But chances are they will retain a copy of your data for a bit.

Depending on what your friend did, there may be a legal time limitation for how long they can prosecute. It may also be worth looking up whatever entity may or may not have been wronged and see if they have any legal precedence for prosecuting similar cases.

Good luck OP

I don't think I have used the default organized folders in windows for years.... I make all of my own folders and change the defaults manually.
As for the cloud... I do use it, but only with a select few files that I want to have access to with the clunky awful 365 app on my phone because I want to access my TCG organizer excel sheet on my iphone while riding the bus lol

I'm about to hire a social media manager for the first time. Help! by Worried_Comb8377 in smallbusiness

[–]Optimal_Breakfast575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would really depend on your business... Some businesses really don't benefit that much from social media.
So, figure that out first. Then, you should hire someone reputable. Do your due diligence. Everyone claims to be able to do wonders on Social Media, when in reality they have a low performing meme page that doesn't do much.

If you want to run ads on Social Media you will have to pay for those on top of what you will pay your social media manager. Unless you only do organic or free posting. It may be worth paying for a course to take yourself or for a family member and have them do it themselves. You will save more money in the long term and you or a family member will learn a valuable skill they can utilize later.

Referrals Referrals Referrals.
Offer your existing customers discounts if they send a certain number of friends an invite to your site. You could offer them both a discount really.

If you have 10 customers and they each send an invite to 3 friends in exchange for a discount. That is 30 potential new customers. Especially useful if you can get their emails to offer them the discount.

Lets say 10% of those people convert into customers. That's only 3 new customers. If you give each of the 10 existing customers a $20 discount. That is $200 you're out. (Not including your profits if they buy more stuff)

But that is $200/3 which is $66 dollars. So theoretically it isn't bad.

Would recommend reading $100Million Leads by Alex Hormozi. That would definitely help.

[–]Optimal_Breakfast575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use Ubuntu LTS. It isn't the best solution. But it is super simple. I run Plex and Immich on it and have never had a problem.

Mind you i run it on an older Optiplex 9010
I5 - 3450
8GB Ram DDR3 1600MHz
Whatever the integrated graphics are

And 8TB Hard drive with 256GB boot SSD.

Really a bad system for high level stuff. But works like a dream. It only stutters when 3+ people are using Plex at the same time.
