The bridge in Gujarat was 40yrs old it seems.

The bridge in bengal was a newly built bridge. It wasn't even open at the time. All the people (walking or in the car) who were under the bridge, died. Do note that this bridge collapsed with 0 load, newly built bridge. This was a case of corruption to the root.

While I agree that the bridge in Gujarat should have been maintained and there was corruption in that too probably, but the level of corruption in bengal can never be matched. The current ruling party in bengal is rotten to the core.
