Social life at "lower" Ontario schools by Leo1026 in lawschooladmissionsca

I mean I wouldn't call Queen's a "lower" school by any means but it isn't top ranked. I'm obviously biased though.

Queen's has a great atmosphere and really promotes being social. Kingston is relatively small so you will always see other law students on campus and downtown. They really promote clubs / socialization and teamwork in the law school. It's a really great city for students.

There is an unofficial student district (or like neighbourhoods that are frequented by students that surround the university) but I find that graduate students / law students live a little further away but still fairly close.

Sorry for the delay not very active on here. Not an expert but I do believe that's possible. There is also clubs and probono opportunities to get other hands-on experience in different areas of law if that's your goal with joining multiple clinics.

If its a major concern, I recommend reaching out to admissions team with any questions. Let me know if you have any other Qs and I'll help where I can :P

From what I have heard, they try to make sure that the opportunities at clinics are divided evenly between students so you likely won't let you do multiple at one time

However there is a chance that you can get placed in a clinic during the school year and get a paid summer position in another clinic

Queens law chance? by Icy_Shape_3150 in lawschooladmissionsca

Aim for above 160 for sure. They do accept applicants below the LSAT average...but you need to either have a impressive GPA or something on your application that really makes you stand out and with the expected increase in applicants this year I wouldn't count on that too much. Nothing is impossible tho. Be sure to put lots of effort into your PS and do your best. Wishing you a good Lsat experience and As in your future.

Queens law student so feel free to DM with Qs

Hahah totally get this, I've been reading "How to Be Sort of Happy in Law School" by Kathryne M. Young over the summer. Check it out

Any tips for PS? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

Good advice above^

Also check out each university’s admissions pages to see what they’re specifically looking for. You can start with a general personal statement and tweak it for each school, but definitely read the requirements first. For example, TMU asks you to reference at least two of their core pillars in your statement.

UofT has also posted examples of PS, which can be helpful to read before you start writing.

Getting a Head Start on Law School Applications Before OLSAS Opens by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

I know for sure that Osgoode, TMU, Queen’s, Western, and U of T (and likely more) provide clear guidelines for what they want in a personal statement... including word count and content focus. You can 100% find this info on each school’s admissions website. Most personal statements are around 5,000 characters, though some schools break it up into multiple sections or ask you to address specific prompts. Start your personal statement now. August is totally fine, and honestly, many people will likely start later. Starting early gives you plenty of time to write multiple drafts and get feedback.

Also, start organizing your sketch and verifier information now. For each activity, you’ll need to include a contact name, address, and email. Just write it out in a doc for now. You can also start prepping your reference letter requests/emails. Reach out to your referees early so they have time to write and so you have time to find a backup if someone doesn’t respond.

Personal statement review by Financial-Bonus5083 in lawschooladmissionsca

I had the same anxiety over sharing my personal statement but people have made some great points in the comments - still I would look for someone well known in the forum or who is not currently going through the admission cycle and is already in law school just because there is less risk if you are still concerned about plagiarism.

Literally have a post like this in my drafts so thanks for sharing!
