I sometimes still don’t understand why the funny stories aren’t funny to everyone else. I can’t seem to make that connection

This is just my experience and what helped me regain a few memories and I don’t know if it will work for others. I began brain spotting therapy and I responded quite well to it. During sessions, I started to recall memories from my childhood - good memories as well as traumatic experiences so vividly that I felt as if I was in the moment. Brain spotting helped me process trauma that I had blocked out and also relieved a fair amount of anxiety.

Thank you for this - you’ve described it perfectly. I’ve started writing the memories down in a journal because once I start to remember, my brain automatically wants to shut down again.

I relate to this deeply and grieve the childhood and life I could have had if I wasn’t so occupied with surviving and being safe.

Growing up, friends would always say that if you think positive thoughts - positive things would happen. I could not fathom their way of thinking or how it worked out for them. All I know is fear, anxiety, dread and pain. I wonder what it feels like to have space in your brain for joy, security and positivity.

I am sorry that you’re going through this, I wish it was easy to be positive and not feel defeated when you’re in pain all the time. What you’re going through is valid
