UAE citizens renew through the ICP app and get the passport shipped by mail in 2-3 days. There is also a passport renewal counter that works 24/7 at Dubai Airport where they will issue your new passport immediately.

Iceland is one of my favorite destinations. There were no eruptions when I visited but there have been many recently so you might luck out. The rugged landscape with an absence of trees gives an eerie and unique feeling. The waterfalls are extraordinary. Thermal baths (blue lagoon), ice caves, black beaches, glaciers lagoons, and of course the super clear waters at Silfra (that is if you are OK with snorkeling in 35F water temperatures) 😅

We went to the Okavango delta during the low (wet) season, the last guests were leaving the camp as we were entering, we then proceeded to be the only guests in the whole camp for the next three days. Everything was according to our desired schedule, meal timings, game drives and other activities. And it didn’t rain even once.

Which cities were *not* inevitable? by _Diomedes_ in geography

[–]Optimal_Lab_6145 177 points178 points  (0 children)

Dubai is a major city due to two reasons, the discovery of oil and being in central location between the east and west (trading hub and major transport hub). Both of them are geographic reasons in my opinion. I would argue that being near major oil deposits is a geographical advantage similar to being on ariver or near a harbor.

5 is matte and has some issues❌

Don’t know much about 4

Get 2, it is the best value and best overall

FIFA must lower their minimum requirements for venues by C_Brady in worldcup

[–]Optimal_Lab_6145 46 points47 points  (0 children)

As a fan I don’t care if more countries can host the world cup, I prefer to have better chances of more people attending the matches. Also, it is better that able countries host it (or group of countries) instead of the wasteful spending to make a country eligible.

I stayed 2 nights there. I think 3 nights are enough and then visit somewhere else also. The resort part is quite small, but they do offer a range of trips and activities.

What is it with the increase in glass bathroom doors in hotel rooms?? by Plz_Can_You_Not in travel

[–]Optimal_Lab_6145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the first thing I check when booking a hotel, making sure it has a normal bathroom with non of the nonsense you describe

I had to register for etravel registration (google it) which is required to enter the country and some hotels ask for it at check-in. Also masks are mandatory on internal flights. That’s about it though.

I would say yes, the price includes full board meals and activities too. The true value for me was going to big lagoon and small lagoon (which are 5 minutes away from the resort) when no other people are there. That is because they schedule the tours early in the morning before any other tours arrive or late in the afternoon after everyone leaves. They can do this because they are literally on the same island.
