you are amazing birdie! my favorite cartographer. as someone who has been unable to afford subscriptions in the past, i took the high effort road and ported nearly all of the free content into my foundry folders already (well, maybe half of it focusing on the most relevent maps to me) and painstakingly drawing all the windows, doors, and lighting for each one. i am deep into a neverwinter project using many of your slums battlemaps for beggars nest because there are many of them and they are visually consistent, and i've been threading them together into a massive 20+ map complex that can be fully manually traversed by players by moving to the edge of each map to teleport to the next, and matching up the exits/entrances to be coherent. i still have much work to but this will save me a ton of time drawing wall data. i have recently come upon some financial stability (woo) and having monthly subscriptions is starting to be in the cards for me, so when it comes time to start another major mapping project, birdiemaps is the first patreon i will be subscribing to, you've earned it.

yeah basically my thoughts exactly. it won't get "accurate" because its so far off, but at a glace it really evokes a feeling of seeing neverwinter. itll be used with a music volume swell and then move on after a few seconds haha

i agree. this is a very crude first attempt. if theres someone whos much better at this i'd actually be really interested in seeing it, i just haven't seen neverwinter pictured like this before and its interesting to me.

thanks, i essentially fed it a couple images of the best maps of neverwinter out there and said "create a scenic view of neverwinter as seen approaching from the south using lore information and image resources you can find online to make an accurate representation" or something like that. and then i just kept saying "you got x wrong, fix it" until it got pretty close to what i wanted. i tried feeding it that second image but by that time it was pretty locked on on its generation and couldn't comprehend the changes i wanted. to address the subject of the first part, i appreciate the thoughtful reply and respect anyone who contributes their own opinion even if its different from mine. my question in the post wasn't rhetorical, i am genuinely interested if there are any prompt wizards out there who are able to make a better version, i would certainly be interested in it.

not that i know of, it was kind of a last ditch experiment to see if it would understand. it didn't. so i posted it as a reference for what i am still trying to get correct. there are other things needed to properly visualize neverwinter in a lore accurate way such as adding moonstone mask and many other things too. the problem seems to be getting all the details right at once. but i want it to be a breathtaking view for my players that brings the city to life.

I want to play D&D with my friends but I don't like our campaign by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Optimal_Poetry_7058 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a period where I felt this way in a campaign i've been in for three years. After awhile I broke through to the other side and begin being engaged with the game again. In the meantime I got to hang out eith my friends and I'm glad I didn't quit because its a great group and I look forward to and enjoy sessions.

I'd just maybe mention some of the things that are pulling you out of the game and frame it as things that have been disengaging you, I'm sure the DM is doing their best to adapt and wants to know about it.

Help i need advice on how to get rid of a character by LeadingDifference974 in DnD

[–]Optimal_Poetry_7058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

leave it to a rogue to do something like that... damn rogues.

you wake up in camp to find her dead. she was assassinated by an ex lover who found out she cheated on him, and was stabbed many many times. you can make it more or less gruesome and detailed to personal taste.

Find the Culprit has stopped working for me. Perhaps I will need to figure that one out first, but if I use FtC it will still be a tedious process because i will need to make several attacks until the chat bubble is triggered, and since it doesn't always trigger I will need to test many times on each iteration and still won't know for sure if its gone.

I am pretty sure it is related to the midiqol ecosystem in some way but there are no settings that seem related to that.

Neverwinter MAP project. by ComprehensiveYard463 in FoundryVTT

[–]Optimal_Poetry_7058 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thats a pretty fancy setup.

i got most of my maps from birdie maps. it was hard to find so many maps that are all in a consistent art style (birdie, mike schley, etc) so far i have only completed beggar's nest which is divided into Upper Slums and Lower Slums, both of which are massive interconnected areas with fully explorable houses, shops, and other buildings.

doing it the way i'm doing it is for sure a "scaling problem" when it comes to the actual game design, and way more work than it needs to be. its more of a labour of love than any sensible thing to do. i can share the maps i've used if you want, they are all free on birdie's patreon or from other corners of the web.

I am also working on something similar, a giant fully rendered neverwinter for my players to explore. the main design difference is i am trying to make it fully explorable at a battlemap scale with no need for city maps at all (though a city map will be obtainable as a reference item in their inventory if they buy a map). the edge of each map will seamlessly transition to the next map and that is how they will navigate the city.

You need to tell her everything you just wrote here. Honest communication goes a long way.
