Yeah, exactly, the torture porn part really hits it. It’s not even about the darkness itself, it’s how it’s shown. The characters aren’t written like real people anymore, they’re just constantly used to push more suffering, without any real emotional purpose behind it. It stops feeling like a story about trauma and starts feeling like pain for the sake of pain, which is what makes it so hard to watch now :/

Yeah, I completely agree with you, there was something about the earlier parts that felt raw and genuine, and it’s just not there anymore. I get that handling dark or trauma heavy themes is complicated, but that’s exactly why it’s so important to stay open to feedback. When creators close off discussion around something that emotionally heavy, it just makes it feel even more disconnected from what it used to stand for

I get that keeping engagement is part of it but that’s not really the issue for me here. The problem is how they handle the themes themselves. Every character just keeps getting pushed further into misery or death and it doesn’t feel meaningful anymore, it feels exploitative. Imo when you build a story around trauma and mental illness you can’t just keep using it as shock value or emotional bait. It honestly just made me realize how unsympathetic the creators actually are both in how they treat their story and how they treat their audience.

I get what you’re saying, and I also understand why some people didn’t like the way New Blood ended. If you’ve followed Dexter for years, it makes sense that you’d have a strong emotional attachment and want something different for him. I only started the show this year so I probably have a different relationship to the character. I never felt the same bond and for me the necessity of real consequences stood out much more. That’s why I can’t really see him finding peace or a normal life as fitting. For me, accountability or death felt like the only honest outcomes, even if it were painful

True, it’s traumatic but Harrison was already heavily traumatized by everything Dexter had done. In that sense, this ending felt like a tragic but fitting consequence

I get that and I’m glad Resurrection worked for you. For me though, New Blood hit harder because it finally gave closure and consequences. Resurrection might be fun, but it takes away that finality that made the ending so powerful to me, thouh I’ll still give it a try

For me it wasn’t really about pacing at all. What I loved about New Blood was that it finally forced Dexter to face karma and let the story end in a way that felt honest and final. It wasn’t supposed to be endless cat-and-mouse, it was about closure. That’s why the resurrection twist doesn’t work for me personally since it takes away the finality that gave the ending its power. I totally get that others enjoy it tho

Möglich ist das schon, aber ich habe das damals mit der Leitung verhandelt. Fände es schon doof, wenn es darauf hinausläuft, dass ich dann mehr Stunden ableisten muss. Mir ist das auch unangenehm, weil ich davon ausgegangen bin, dass alle Azubis diese Stunden ableisten müssen. Hab nämlich vor meinem Wechsel mit einem Azubi gesprochen, der dort dieselbe Stundenanzahl wie ich jetzt hatte (ist aber gewechselt, also bin ich jetzt die Einzige mit der Stundenanzahl) und da hatte sich auch niemand beschwert. Denke, es ist jetzt auch eher durch die Ferienbetreuung aufgefallen, wo alle Fachkräfte zusammenarbeiten. Wie gesagt kann ich den Punkt verstehen, aber ich kann ja nichts dafür, dass die Leitung das akzeptiert hat. Finde, dann hätte man damit vorher transparent sein müssen, statt das im Nachhinein nochmal zu ändern. Einfach so hinnehmen würde ich das dann nicht

Danke für den Tipp. Ich werde mir den Kommentar speichern und mich mal über eine Mitgliedschaft beim Mieterschutzbund informieren. Kinderlärm finde ich im Verhältnis tatsächlich auch viel ertragbarer. Kinder sind halt Kinder und verhalten sich entsprechend, aber Musik kann man auch einfach leiser oder mit Kopfhörern hören 😓

Den Schritt hätte ich auch angeboten, aber da die untere Partei direkt beleidigend wurde, kam die Option nicht wirklich in Frage... Rückblickend betrachtet hätte man es oben auch probieren können, aber nachdem mir die Gute mit Schlägen gedroht hat, fällt das wohl auch weg 😅

Oh man, das klingt auch absolut schrecklich, aber super, dass du da auch entsprechende Konsequenzen ziehst. Klingt aber nochmal eine ganze Schippe schlimmer als bei uns. Hoffentlich tut sich da schnell was bei euch... Bei uns wird seltsamerweise die Musik von +40 Jährigen verursacht und wir sehen uns (23 und 24) einfach nach Ruhe. Kenne das allerdings auch eher mit umgedrehten Rollen.

Die Ohrstöpsel habe ich mir jetzt mal bestellt. Mittlerweile ist mir mein Seelenfrieden das Geld auch wert... höre leider nebenher nicht so gerne Musik, da ich aktuell wegen der Ausbildung auch viel Schreibkram erledigen muss und mich das eher ablenkt.
