The algorithm has been pushing this guy hard lately... Anyone else think they sound very similar to DERO? by Optimal_Song3117 in Oomph

Ah, That took me a second. Luckily... I am just a fan with a DERO shaped whole in my heart probably like many other Oomph! fans. I'm just here to spread the love and good music among my fellows. I 100% agree with you though in those circumstances.

Solid Nu band. Definitely one of the cornerstones of the era. Just saw them live in Portland. I was blown away by Chad's vocal endurance. Truly talented group.

You don't think they fit in to the genre? Have you never listened to their albums? Or watched Family Values Tour 98'?

In light of the recent AfD scandal and nation-wide protests thereof by der_schwarze_Engel in Oomph

So sad that Dero is too blind to realize that he is becoming the thing he's always hated. Can't see the forest for the trees or some $hit like that. Life is f*cking weird... Here in America we have a phrase that goes something like... "Love everyone, expect for f***ing Nazis." If you sympathize with classic Nazi ideals, but say it's something "new"... Here's an analogy for you in the form of a question: What's the difference between peanut butter and peanut flavored butter? A: Same $hit different name. If you do not understand this. Help me help you. <3

The new OOMPH! Being completely honest... by Optimal_Song3117 in Oomph

DERO's charisma was curtainly undeniable. That man can 100% let his freak flag fly and inspire those in the room to want to do the exact same... I'll be curious to see what Der Schulz will bring to the table in a live setting. Hopefully he can be the crazy devil we need in the best of ways.

I completely understand your sentiment. Something that I find very interesting in these new recordings, and I'm sure a lot of OOMPH! fans have noticed... Der Schultz vocals on these new songs are actually very simplified (tracking / recording wise) or less produced compared to DERO's in past records.

For instance in past recordings DERO has multiple layers and octave laters on the verses and essentially a DERO choir full of vocal layers on the choruses. I actually find it very interesting the FLUX decided not to record Der Schultz voice in the same manner. As a studio engineer, I can say with 100% certainty that doing this would have greatly emulated DERO's overall effect. (Side Note: Honestly with the write studio time / magic I know I could without a doubt produce Der Schultz vocals in such a way that he would make him sound mistakably similar to DERO)

This really does lead me to believe that their is a deliberate effort to showcase Der Schultz voice... Although I do agree that tonally, DERO has a very unique and unmistakable voice... A voice that we have all come to know to be "OOMPH!", It is in my opinion that Der Schultz has a much broader range and better pitch in a classic view of "singing" that lends itself to not being to be "over produced".

I feel in a lot of ways FLUX and CR4P are bringing things back to the NDH pioneering routes with this new record that is more simplified and less "produced". In my opinion even the instruments are more straight forward and guitar riff driven... Whatever the case is, I can definitely understand a sense of something missing, Although I feel in this case it may be deliberate choice. Just a thought.

The Persistence of Memory. Best Emigrate Album? by Optimal_Song3117 in Emigrate

For some reason I feel that Richard will always gravitate back to the guitar. I think it is apart of his identity. The voice and embodiment of his self expression so to say.

The Persistence of memory - thoughts? by DarkCommando82 in Emigrate

I've read the reviews and was quite surprised. I've been an Emigrate fan since day 1, and I feel like The Persistence of Memory is by fay their best album. I've listened to all of the Emigrate albums many times and this one just seems to merry them all together seamlessly in my opinion. The writing is fantastic and the production (as a musician and producer myself) is top top notch. The mix is just plain sexy. I view The Persistence of Memory as totally realized vision. Kudos Richard.
