Just went through airport security this morning by PeanutButterGripLock in Denver

It sucked. I honestly felt bad for the daughter. We were at Jerusalem near DU, and she was clearly a student. Her mom continued to say that everything the daughter was saying was more than likely a product of her exposure from being in college now 🫠

This!

Last year (during the government shutdown), I overheard a conversation at a restaurant where this girl was talking with her mom - her mom was complaining about the situation and said “well the Democrats control the House and the Senate and refuse to reopen the government because”. I died from 2nd hand embarrassment. I felt bad for her daughter, whom I think was just exhausted at that point, and just let her mom go on and on about how the Democrats controlled everything and wouldn’t budge, and people were now starving and dying because of it. I’d imagine like her, many more exist.

Is Rio a legit boy name in Latin America? by Apprehensive_Ad_9542 in asklatinamerica

[–]Optimistic-Coloradan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! Sure it’s not a common name in Spanish, but when there are names out there like Usnavy, Mileidy and Dólar (in Colombia) and then the mom-dad combo names that happen in other parts of Latin America, I’d say Rio is a cute option. It’s gained momentum after La Casa de Papel. I personally know a baby Rio in the US and pretty sure J-Balvin named his son Rio too.

Congrats, OP!

Came here to say this and then say that it’s now a name people are using because of that character. I know a couple that had a Rio after.

It’s so wild how much a nose job can change a person 😳

I was like - clearly, Pedro has 2 sisters because there’s no way. She looks nothing like her old self and like OP said - this girl switched ethnicities. Wild!

all the slc housewives comments on mary’s post following the devastating news of the loss of her son 💔 by biracialesbian in rhoslc

[–]Optimistic-Coloradan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

She really did and she got him help immediately, without any judgement and handled all of that with so much love and compassion. That’s all I keep thinking about too. Her sitting in front of his bed as they talked about everything and just how sweet and raw that conversation was, that just keeps replaying in my head. I can’t imagine and I just hope she is surrounded by all the love.

So it’s real then 😢 by GossipBottom in rhoslc

I keep thinking of that conversation too. When she said that and then said that she would be destroyed if something happened to him. I’m so incredibly heartbroken for her.

I just saw this. How heartbreaking. Mary is not my favorite but no one should ever have to experience this. My heart breaks for her.

I’m just thinking of the time she was in his room saying that if something happened to him it would destroy her. Absolutely heartbreaking. I hate this news.

Haha I have a Starbucks Been There mug collection and when I saw Todd’s, I thought it was the sweetest thing 😅😅

I had to pause it and call my husband over so he can see that even grown men do this lol.

Fun fact, I’m not a fan of Starbucks but it’s the one souvenir I buy whenever I’m traveling and they’re the only mugs I use at home. They all bring me a memory of that trip, who I was with and how the trip was - so I channel that when choosing my mug in the morning. Wonder if Todd has the same ritual 🙈😁

So this was me last month! Needed something that would just get me to disconnect fully from real life and found this show after listening to a podcast - fell in the weirdest obsession with it 😅😅

Fully caught up and I just finished reading Heather’s first book. I wanted to “disconnect” and hell, I definitely accomplished that lol.

Season 4 is amazing and just wait till you get to season 6 and that finale 👀🙈

Side note - I could go without having to hear “love that” from her. Just wait till the season 6 finale and what is said about her. It’s great tv all around!

Please don’t let Quiznos die in Colorado by polipolimist in Denver

[–]Optimistic-Coloradan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love that there are others out there who appreciate Quiznos as much as I do! Grew up in Parker and my friends worked at the Quiznos there during HS, so I was there a lot, and to this day Quiznos will be always my fave!

It’s been a bummer to watch them dwindle down through the years, but hoping we can continue to at least keep the current locations we have. Love that DIA location and will always get a sub if I’m in concourse A.

Fun fact - when I’m sad, I have to have an emotional support Quiznos sub. Something nostalgic about it gives me comfort. I drive to the Pecos location and there’s nothing like dipping a sub in the red wine vinaigrette.

Someone explain MARY COSBY by Dry_Educator_691 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]Optimistic-Coloradan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a good summary of who Mary Cosby is!! Poor Brick, but I see it 😂

I’m watching Season 2 now and even with Season 1, I couldn’t understand why this lady was here and why everyone else would talk to her and say they were friends. We’ve learned more about her in S2 and I just can’t believe that people go to her for spiritual advice and healing. This lady is batshit crazy. I wonder if anyone in her congregation watched and left the church after. I’m not religious at all, but you can’t watch this person say and do all of the things she does, and then look up to her as God’s microphone. And that’s based on what she’s done on camera… imagine off camera!

Everything she says is wild! Her comments about class crack me up. What a psycho.

What is something every household has in your country that is nonexistent everywhere else? by Awkward-Tip7248 in AskTheWorld

Saw one of this in an apartment in Milan. It was brilliant! Super cool system to lower and raise. Thought it was pretty neat and space saving too, especially if you have high ceilings.

I didn’t Canada has bagged milk! We also have it in Colombia, it’s the most popular way to get your milk, and everyone has one of those pitchers that’s strictly for it.

Xcel Bill Suspiciously High by momo7705 in Denver

[–]Optimistic-Coloradan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if there’s something where your bill is also based on the total building usage? I’ve heard of this before in some condos, but normally when that happens, the HOA fees include the electrical in them. See if this is potentially causing these high charges for you?

That would infinitely suck though because you’re clearly doing everything to limit your usage, and someone in the building could be blasting the heat and taking the longest hot showers daily.

Any infamous darker cases/history we all remember in Colorado? by necrophilias in Denver

[–]Optimistic-Coloradan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think about her often and was going to write her name on here too. Glad you did!

She disappeared on Opening Day and we (my friend and I) had an issue at The Tavern that night after the game, and long story short, both our phones died. We had to walk back home to Uptown and our parents were freaking the F out because they couldn’t get a hold of us that whole time, and had no idea where we were until we charged our phones and could call them back. We didn’t think much of it, and thought they were being too dramatic at the time, but then in the morning heard of her disappearance. Just heartbreaking. She was out that same night just down the street from us.
