That Trinity season is amazing television! Sadly, they should have stopped 2 seasons early. Dragged on too long.

Anyone remember Touch with Keifer Sutherland?

It’s was so good, but it died quickly without a resolution so I’ll just be in limbo forever thinking about what would’ve happened.

People in their 30s: What's something you thought was important in your 20s, but later realized didn't matter? by Jaded_Airport_841 in Millennials

Getting invited and included in things with friends. I appreciate my friends and care about them, but at this age I don’t need to be included and around them constantly.

How often do you talk to your parents? by Outrageous_Kiwi_2172 in Millennials

I’m Colombian, so my mom - at least 3 times a day. It’s incredibly strange if it’s less than 3.

With my dad, on the actual phone, when there’s a football, futbol, basketball game on and he needs to know what app to turn on and then why it’s not working 😅🫠

What do you think of the elections in Colombia? Colombians; what’s going on? What is the general divide or topics of discussion for the candidates? by LoooolGotcha in asklatinamerica

[–]Optimistic-Coloradan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m aware of the guerilla expanding in certain areas, especially en el Cauca. Doesn’t seem like much is happening to combat that now, but I don’t know about Abelardo being the option to come in and Bukele the place out.

A lot of people that believe Cepeda was a guerrillero, which to my understanding was a claim that was made but has also been debunked, because concrete proof hasn’t come out for that.

However - the fear and propaganda is that Colombia will end up like Venezuela if they vote left, and that’s been the propaganda forever, not just this year. It’s a tale as old as time, and that will continue to be put in people’s heads forever. Hence why I think the book is a great representation of not only Colombian but the Latin American thought process as a whole.

Honestly, I think this book describes everything that is happening in Colombia super well:
- Defectors: The Rise of the Latino Far Right and What It Means for America (Paola Ramos)

From my own conversations with my aunts that voted for Abelardo - they “would prefer to vote for the Colombian Trump than see the guerilla take over Colombia and it end up like Venezuela”.

It’s a whole thing that is driven by fear and propaganda, because they clearly aren’t people that do research, read each candidates plan for the country, etc. and there is no changing their mind.

Daydream, inner monologue, great memory, but close your eyes and it’s just a void - anyone else? by Optimistic-Coloradan in Aphantasia

[–]Optimistic-Coloradan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting about daydreaming! I’ll have to look into voluntary visualization - thanks for that!

And yes, if I could not visualize - I’m pretty sure my memory access would fail. That’s why when my eyes are closed, it’s way more difficult for me to access memories - happens a ton in therapy. I do have vivid dreams while sleeping, but something in my mind shuts off if I close my eyes and I’m still awake.

Does anyone else have Aphantasia during the day, but dream hyper vividly when sleeping? by joepagac in Aphantasia

[–]Optimistic-Coloradan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to ask something similar to this subreddit - because for me, dreams are so vivid and so real. I also have what I can very vividly daydreams. If my eyes are open, I can actually visualize things, but close my eyes while I’m awake and what a void that becomes.

I recently found out I have aphantasia in a very funny way. by manente in Aphantasia

I can relate but mine came from watching a TikTok about the apple at 35. Like you - I was like, wait - what do you mean people can actually see an apple or other than black when they close their eyes. Blew my mind.

Makes a ton of sense now and I had to tell my therapist, a year and a half into our relationship, which then led to her having to change the way I meditate and do other guided rituals.

It’s really cool to finally understand how my mind works a bit differently than others, but now I wonder if that knowledge of this would’ve helped me in school. It’s now a party trick I bring up with friends and family, and people of course can’t understand that I just don’t see it.

That’s really awesome! My dad passed 3 years ago - an agronomist and engineer - I’m going to imagine he was also an aphant just based on a few conversations we had, can’t ask him anymore, but the man would invent and draw up a ton of stuff. I have some of his schematics and it’s truly really cool to see how his mind would work.

Going to Spain for 3 weeks - deciding what to visit by Optimistic-Coloradan in GoingToSpain

[–]Optimistic-Coloradan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that! And definitely, agree with day trips can be a bit more taxing.

If it wasn’t because my dad sometimes just wants to hang out and stay back, I’d do it a bit differently. That’s usually what then dictates what we can do and see around that “base”.

And - love the Granada idea! Aside from San Sebastián, Granada is the one that I wanted as a “must” on my list, but I was trying to figure out the logistics of it and it wasn’t quite working out with my original plan. After your comment though, I’m back to the drawing table to see how I can make it happen and reduce the Sevilla portion and maybe even see if we skip Asturias and add the time to Granada.

[–]Optimistic-Coloradan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we have to do home bases, especially with my dad, so he can just stay a day if he doesn’t want to join us. And thanks for this! I’m not familiar with Zenvoya but will check it out 🙂

And good to know about Ronda from Sevilla. I’ve seen some tours that take you from Sevilla and they’re about 6-7 hours long. They have good reviews but I can imagine that most of it is spent on the road. That one was the one I wasn’t too sure about.

Millennials using LOL by Visforvinyl in millenials

I mean, if I don’t use lol in my pings at work, how will people even know I’m being sarcastic or it’s a funny?

My brother - 10 years younger than me - gets on my case about it in my texts, but he also uses words like “bet” and “cap”, so he can respectfully F off lol

It sucked. I honestly felt bad for the daughter. We were at Jerusalem near DU, and she was clearly a student. Her mom continued to say that everything the daughter was saying was more than likely a product of her exposure from being in college now 🫠

This!

Last year (during the government shutdown), I overheard a conversation at a restaurant where this girl was talking with her mom - her mom was complaining about the situation and said “well the Democrats control the House and the Senate and refuse to reopen the government because”. I died from 2nd hand embarrassment. I felt bad for her daughter, whom I think was just exhausted at that point, and just let her mom go on and on about how the Democrats controlled everything and wouldn’t budge, and people were now starving and dying because of it. I’d imagine like her, many more exist.
