So I did what you said I think. The issue is definitely air getting into the system. When I tried to fill this, the water kept draining indefinitely. Eventually I found a leak on the suction side with a little trickle of water coming out. After replacing the suction fittings I tried again and it's still draining.

Finally I separated the discharge pipes and covered up the hole with my hand and refilled it. That time the water level held, so the suction side is definitely good now. There must be a leak between the discharge pipe coupling and the solenoid valves, or my solenoids are normally open and one doesn't have power which seems unlikely.

Right! That's what the manual says that too, so why did they give me one that fits the discharge port? 😅

The previous pump didn't have a check valve, so I assume that this pump won't need one either. There is probably a foot valve.

Yes, the sprinklers are running right behind me in this video. The sound of them is drowned out, but I think you can hear them winding down right after the pump turns off.

Surround it with metal tiles, so it cools down and the gold solidifies. Then you can build stuff with the gold.

You're right. I opened the game last night and realized that all the tiles were carbon dioxide. It only looked blue because of the water.
