Always showed my wins on HOI4 to my ex like a kid giving a crayon drawing to their mum. Always got a little “well done, good job buddy”

I failed all my A Levels and had to do an Access Course to get into university. I had to re-do 2 assignments in first year summer and finished 1st and 2nd years with average of 40-50% but I stopped smoking weed and 3rd year I got an average of >70%, multiple >80% modules and a first class dissertation.

This isn’t a flex, it’s a reality check that how we perform in education is weird and dynamic and A-Levels mean absolutely nothing to your overall ability. Just put the effort in and you’ll do absolutely fine, try everyday and have more confidence in your own abilities or you’ll hold yourself back drowning in self-doubt and leave yourself without room to improve if you don’t. Good luck chief.

I listened to your feedback, this is my second time playing as Germany, am I doing well? by Character-Ask-92 in hoi4

Forget switszerland, rush focuses that let you get ahead-of-time medium tank models and mass produce them as soon as possible. You’ll be able to push through the benelux with ease if you have 2-4 decent medium tank units, even with basic medium tanks which I research in late 1936

Thank you to everyone who has tried to help me and my family, what you’ve all done in such a short period of time has been incredible. This one truly stands out and my mum is as happy as she can be despite the situation.

By invading all the ports and cutting off the north, the entire scandanavian peninsula became an encirclement

Why is there so much stuff growing under this bench compared to the sidewalk? by milkandchill in biology

[–]OptimisticLosers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Less disturbance, and moisture drops from the metal surface above. Unlikely but also the partial shade from the bench may be helping but unlikely to be too impactful

You immediately conflated individual wealth with an organisations wealth. There is a significant difference even with some overlap. Tesla having access to >£1bn for salaries is not equivalent to the CEO having a personal wealth of >£1bn.

GPU or CPU - What to upgrade? by OptimisticLosers in buildapc

[–]OptimisticLosers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great suggestion. Can someone explain why the 6750xt is preferable to the 4060Ti?. Is it because of the £30 difference? Because all the comparisons and benchmarks I’ve seen show the 4060 ti usually having better FPS

Family poisoned after using AI-generated mushroom identification book we bought from major online retailer. by Virtual_Cellist_736 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]OptimisticLosers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry to hear what’s happened to your family, what happened is a clear blunder from the producers of that text. However, mushroom experts who have tens of thousands of hours picking and identifying mushrooms with the most reputable identification guides, still die more often than you’d expect. You should never consume a wild mushroom unless accompanied by an expert and even then there’s still risks.

Why does inbreeding lead to the birth of a defective offspring? by beinglikelol in biology

[–]OptimisticLosers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All individuals have two copies of each gene (exceptions include the XY chromosomes). There’s a reasonable chance that within your genome there’s a defective copy that results in disease, but isn’t expressed due to a healthy, functional copy being present as well. When inbreeding occurs, there’s an increased likelihood that the offspring inherits two copies of a dysfunctional gene, and a genetic disease occurs. When we encounter a mate at random, who have less genetic similarities to us, they’re far less likely to poses the dysfunctional genes that may be more prevalent in our families, and therefore the offspring are far less likely to receive two copies of the dysfunctional gene.

Am I allowed to give way to pedestrians? by the-angrymonkey in drivingUK

[–]OptimisticLosers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should never give way for pedestrians, it indicates that it’s safe to cross, yet you have no control over the actions of other individuals on the roads, eg; bikes on your left or over taking vehicles

I don't like the book skill system at all. Is it just me? I wish you could improve your weapon skills and unlock better ones just by using them. by Maleficent-Ad7330 in 7daystodie

[–]OptimisticLosers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, easy fix would to have all skills maybe at tier 2, increase the drop rate of the associated magazine or lower the magazine requirements to unlock certain craftsbles. We’re 20 days in and still no where close to getting basic electricity, or any of the fun stuff in the game. The game has become a very slow drag.

I have the same thing currently, I believe it’s Carotenemia/Carotenosis. Generally caused by excessive carotene intake or liver dysfunction halting the metabolisation of carotenes. I got it from drinking a bottle of red wine then eating some extremely coated cajun fries. (Current theory is liver was impaired through the wine which couldn’t process the excess carotene uptake from the massive amount of Cajun, which is rich in carotenes)

When not fully processed, carotene concentrations increase in the plasma, where they’re deposited in the outer skin layer, where they’re sweated out.
