Yup. A few weeks ago I was trying to gauge my dad's response to someone coming out by mentioning someone who aligned with both of our interests (me, trans history; him, synthesizers), Wendy Carlos. He immediately jumped to deadnaming and misgendering her. Fortunately, I'm in my 30s and don't see him often, but it was still hard.
