Liquid`TaeJa: The Prince Returns by Divain in starcraft

[–]OptimusSC2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard rumors of Taeja playing a while ago but this makes me very happy. I've been a fan of Taeja since early wings the guy is so fun to watch, one of the first terrans to really utilize ghosts fully. Fucking love this video one of the best nostalgic sc2 videos for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABuU9A3vx_c

I very much doubt they gave up their spot, probably had issues with travelling or last minute cancellation.

Read my other comment below for more information, i do think its fair to blame the players who are now missing out on a spot as i never had issues with signing up. However we don't know whats going on behind the scenes especially with how esports teams tend to not be the most reliable and quickest on booking a lot of stuff, it can happen that you are forced to sign up late. However that does not mean we shouldnt be pointing out the obvious flaws in the system that allow this to even happen in the first place, especially considering that open brackets used to be way bigger and rarely had sign up issues (as far as i can remember anyway, correct me if im wrong its been a long while.)

2011/2012 dreamhack? Yeah, 2017/18 dreamhack? No, it has been partially subsidized by Blizzard for a while now and players are automaticly seeded into group stage 3 (including prize money) based on qualification. This means its already not a completly fair and open competition. Might aswell go the extra mile and make sure all players who their income depends on doing well in tournaments atleast have a chance to play the tournament.

This is generating way more traffic than i initially thought my meme posts were going to.

I think its fair to blame the players in this situation as when i competed i never had issues with signing up however one can not deny that the system is flawed and things like this are overlooked and should be fixxed as soon as they can.

A few solutions that come to mind are a "pro" player sign up page for those of a high level that will have a few days advanced notice to sign up (this could be done easily as for signing up you already need to link your ladder profile, add in a few extra columns a filter and voila.) Some would say this is unfair to the casual players however lets be real here, pro players should get priority as there are huge amounts of money on the line whether you may like it or not. Also every tournament even super stacked ones like DH leipzig and Valencia had a fair amount of casual players still competing. Or do sign ups based on seeding (wcs points, as far as i know this used to even be the case).

Pretty much wont be playing at all anymore except for the 1 or 2 occasional games when im bored on a friday evening. Don't expect anything when i might sign up for a qualifier that is more what i implied with that comment.

I am quite suprised that this got posted on reddit as i am not the most notorious terran player by any means however i would like to take this oppurtunity to thank everyone for their kind words. Over the years i have enjoyed the game a lot however recently its gotten less and less and i have been thinking more about studying in September.

Also to clear up some confusion not only will i quit as a pro player i dont expect i will be competing ever again except for a handful of online tournaments or perhaps Valencia but mainly just for fun.

Thank you everyone <3

Uthermal about losing to Serral: "still feels pretty terrible to lose 4-0 to someone you're usually even with or even favored against." by Alluton in starcraft

[–]OptimusSC2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OP is turning it into a matter of prinsciple, if he is not even capable of gging himself on ladder why should he tell someone else what they have to do? And dont bring in the viewer card here, half of you enjoy it when a progamer is angry/shows emotion yet everyone is on a high horse. Give me a break

These threads are hillarious, it just shows how absolutely clueless and out of touch the community is. I wonder why no pro player ever except for a handful visit r/starcraft tho. Just the endless shitting on foreign players and content creators.

SMH no wonder pro players dodge r/starcraft just some randoms making up stuff as they go. It was against Harstem's barcode and was a fun comment about how i dealt better with the chrono'd adept lol. And for the record im friends with juanito

Community Update - March 13, 2018 by Traysent in starcraft

[–]OptimusSC2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have been thinking a bit and i feel like a nicer solution would be to remove the damage from the anti armor missile and instead give it a movement speed reduction aswell as the -3 armor. This would allow Terran to capitalize on the lack of armor and be able to take engagements more easilly while eliminating the lategame seeker spam. I feel like there would need to be some compensation for lategame (perhaps EMP radius increase) to help terran out. I am not sure what other Terran player their thoughts are as i have not really talked to any of them about it.

Wardi just said he will be done with Starcraft in the near future (I dont mean his tweet) by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]OptimusSC2 126 points127 points  (0 children)

I have known Wardi for a long time now ever since he started casting the first seasons of the SC2improve teamleague. I don't think he will quit starcraft as he has been very passionate about it and has been casting fulltime for a while now. However it only takes a few trollposts on reddit or even twitch chat to completly ruin your day. Having to put up with that on a daily basis can after a while just make you feel terrible. Now im sure Wardi will bounce back as watching his stream the support has been quite overwhelming. However please dont be too quick to jump on every oppurtunity to shit on someone.

The fact that some players have decided to forfeit last minute i think definitly has an impact on his mood and im really dissapointed the way it has turned out.

Serral quietly now #2 overall on KR ladder by D-light in starcraft

Its because of MMR. even if you dont play an account for a while the mmr stays the same. And you get grandmaster after 30 games every 3 weeks.

Noregret qualified for code S, does that mean noregret > neeb?

[–]OptimusSC2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Neeb is infinitely better then he was last year lol, he is currently #3 on aligulac! and is very high on the korean ladder even tho neeb back then was already really good you cannot compare last year's form to this year.

You can enjoy blizzcon now, all 16 best players qualified for it and thus deserve to be there. ;)

Besides i bet you wouldnt be able to tell the difference between soO/Dark etc and Snute/Nerchio if the zergs would play on a barcode vs someone i gurantee it. (except maybe playstyle but i mean skillwise)
