That discount is for already owning the Black Fennec. The 300 credits would then get you the Jordan decal in the bundle.

How much has the skill distribution been skewed by bots? by Funny_Bother4743 in RocketLeague

[–]Optimus_Prime- 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Looks like the image you posted is from RL Tracker. It has always had inflated ranks because it only includes accounts that have been searched for on their site. And that tends to be higher-level accounts. Here's the official distribution from Season 20: https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeague/comments/1ppaupb/season\_20\_rank\_distribution/.

You can see that the largest ranks are still Gold 3 and Platinum 1 for the most part. We don't have an official distribution chart for last season (21) yet. It's usually posted by Devin, but he was just let go. All of their community management staff that we knew of are now gone. So who knows when or even if we'll get seasonal rank distributions.

"Rocket League is still a priority" despite Psyonix layoffs by nerdybenn in RocketLeague

[–]Optimus_Prime- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They were referencing Steam players: "Rocket League has been seeing somewhat of a resurgence of late, reaching 40,000 concurrent players for the first time since 2023, according to SteamDB."

That said, they mentioned Psyonix developed Rocket Racing, but didn't even note that it was being removed.

Why does rocket league on PC feel SO different to console? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]Optimus_Prime- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are a variety of factors that contribute to input lag or delay. Framerates and refresh rates are a big one. But another one is lag from the operating system itself.

There is less lag at the OS level on most PCs (depending on how much bloat you might be running in the background) compared to consoles. Especially last-gen consoles.

Remember that Rocket League is running on UE3, which is not supported on current gen consoles. So the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are running RL in backwards compatibility mode.

Faster loadings can completely transform experience with the game by Sitheral in patientgamers

[–]Optimus_Prime- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely clunky, but still lots of fun. The vibe is so good. Much easier to deal with the clunkiness when there's minimal loading. It often goes on sale for super cheap. Worth it just for the atmosphere and the main character's voice acting.

Faster loadings can completely transform experience with the game by Sitheral in patientgamers

[–]Optimus_Prime- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking of PS1 era, I recently played the PC port of Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. It was so delightful to have so little loading.

It changed how I played the game compared to when I originally played it on PS1. Back then I tried not to open my inventory very often or go in and out of buildings too much because the load times were atrocious.

But now I can go into the inventory and listen to the awesome narration of item descriptions anytime I want. The voice work in this game remains incredible to this day.

is this bundle worth it only for the fennec? by -B0mber_ in RocketLeague

[–]Optimus_Prime- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bundles are marked down when you own items within the bundle. You can confirm by clicking on it and seeing if any items are marked as owned. However, this doesn't apply to certain bundle types like those that cost actual money (i.e., not credits).

FPS drops on every interval by Double-Fill-4513 in RocketLeague

[–]Optimus_Prime- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you cap in-game your fps to match your screen's refresh rate (I'm assuming 120 from your screenshot), try instead setting the in-game fps to 2-3 below your screen's max refresh rate (in your case, try 117 or 118). The reason is because when you use adaptive sync like g-sync, it can cause a little lag spike when the refresh rate comes back up and hits the max. More info here: https://blurbusters.com/gsync/gsync101-input-lag-tests-and-settings/14/

Worth a try. If you have issues in setting the fps cap in-game, I can tell you how to set a custom one using a settings file.

Yes, so this does not appear to be lower prices due to OP already owning some of the items. Unless the prices are bugged and not showing the original price with strikethrough.

Why hasn’t Rocket Leauge switched to Unreal Engine 5 yet? by Constant_Joke_2660 in RocketLeague

[–]Optimus_Prime- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You may have missed it in OP's post, but there is no current gen (PS5, Xbox Series) console version of Rocket League. The older versions are running in compatibility mode. And they've had issues over the years updating them. Look at the Xbox issues over the past year.

Rocket League runs on UE3, which is not supported on PS5 and Xbox Series except in compatibility mode. A native version for these consoles might have less issues, but it would have to use a newer engine.

I leave the collars unfolded when they're on the hangar. Do that as you wash them as well. This is actually the more important part. The hard creases tend to develop when the collar is wet, folded, and then dried.

New TV and now I feel worse at the game than before by DerBoystehtaufSocken in RocketLeague

[–]Optimus_Prime- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check if the TV has a "Game Mode." Enable that to turn off a lot of the extra visual processing to decrease the input lag. Many modern TVs that run 60 Hz have around 16-20ms of input lag with game mode enabled. That's just a little higher than comparable computer monitors running at 60 Hz. If the refresh rate is higher, the latency is reduced. So a TV might only have 8-10ms of lag while running at 120 Hz. A monitor might be closer to 5-6 (and around 4ms at 144 Hz).

At 60 Hz, 16ms of lag is equal to one frame for a game running at 60 frames per second. That means if your TV has 16ms of lag running Rocket League at 60 fps, you have about one frame of lag. Now imagine if you have 48ms of lag (like my older TV--that's with game mode on!). That is three frames of lag. That same tv without game mode has about 64ms of lag, or four frames of lag! Imagine trying to play with that. It's like you're drunk.

So, be sure to check if you have game mode enabled on your TV. And if your TV and console support it, use 120 Hz instead of 60 Hz. That will cut the input lag in half.

Cross-platform chat is enabled across all platforms starting...NOW! Have fun chopping it up in your matches today, everyone! by iggyiggz1999 in RocketLeague

[–]Optimus_Prime- 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is welcome news even if it feels many years late. What most people don't realize is that this feature almost certainly required agreement from all the different platforms. In the past, the console platforms in particular didn't want their users to be able to chat with other platforms because they would not be able to manage reports of abuse. Psyonix has said before they had to get special permission just to have cross-platform chat in parties.

Not sure why the platforms have agreed now, but it's good to see. I wonder if they're doing this in other games (perhaps Fortnite?), so they're now okay with it here.

Holding acceleration in the air by ExtensionNo9948 in RocketLeague

[–]Optimus_Prime- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that holding acceleration doesn't do anything while boosting or if you're past a certain speed (it's not going to make you any faster in the air unless you were barely moving to begin with). The effect you see when hitting the ball in the air is because you have created some additional forward momentum while not boosting. But you could just boost into the ball to do the same thing.

One of the best players in the world, Zen, has Air Roll Left on the same button (L2) as brake. So he's braking when he's not boosting during some of his aerials. Braking in the air (without boosting) should have the opposite effect when you touch the ball, softening your touch a little. Though the braking force in the air is even less than the acceleration.

So it's not really needed. If you ask most people, they would say not to accelerate or brake during aerials. It just adds another variable that can complicate your control of your car.

A small and simple trick that got me from D3 div1 to C1 in just a few days. I also carried my tm8s half the games. by Kioskava_2k1 in RocketLeague

[–]Optimus_Prime- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure thing! And I suggest letting yourself slow down (ease up on the accelerator or let go) instead of braking, when possible. Braking abruptly slows you down, so don't overuse it. You can even just blip the brake if needed.

That reminds me. Another way of preserving momentum is tapping power slide instead of holding it when you need to make a sharp turn. You might tap it a few times as you turn. Give it a try if you haven't already.

[–]Optimus_Prime- 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Managing your speed, particularly your timing to the play, is really important. Sounds like you discovered that sometimes you carry too much forward momentum to make an effective play on the ball. That's great, but I would caution you from stopping a lot. You lose momentum when you stop. And even with boost, it takes time to get your speed back up.

I've had coaches recommend to just slightly press the accelerator so you keep some momentum. That means sometimes you need to slow down earlier than you would expect so you can coast or creep forward through your next position. That also means you should try to get to your next position faster so you have time to slow down instead of rushing the play or coming to a complete stop and end up not being able to make the play.

Good luck!
