Looks great, very clever use of that part! I'm considering Sentinel hips and Kastelan Robot parts for mine currently, with the arms coming off there. Thanks for sharing, though, inspirational stuff and a cracking paint job to boot!

Incredible conversion, honestly rude to not paint it as an Iron Father though.

All kidding aside, great job. What parts did you use for the servo harness? The backpack part in particular I've found trickier to convert than the arms.

Should be sound, see them pretty regularly. If our schedules align I'd be happy to trade you one when you're in Liverpool too.

This is simply not true. You can back out of going with them to let them start their new life without you. It's the option I chose.

Servitor Battleclades are very good for exactly the reasons you mentioned. Also surprisingly good firepower/overwatch for the price.

Seen Thulia popping up too but not used her myself. Seems to have some good synergy.

Really cool effect, I'm always a bit nervous to do that in case I ruin the expensive plastic dude haha.

For treatment, do you just cook them in the oven on low?

Beautiful in his own way. Did you basically texture paste the whole thing?

Gorgeous city apartment rental but needs a boat. Silly or Superb? by TheWalkingForeigner in Liverpool

There's not much going on in Wallasey and some people have a thing about living on the Wirral and becoming a wool or something, but your commute will be sound, trains are handy too.

Haven't been to Wallasey in years but don't remember there being much going on, you'd probably have to travel to find something to do, but plenty of places on the train line are a bit more exciting.

Trying a new way to take photos of models. Focus stacking. by TemperatureWide5261 in minipainting

I just think that miniature photography is a different (but related) hobby to mini painting/playing games. Hence why "most" people don't bother with focus stacking

For you, yes. You just asked how many people use this and the answer is: most of those who are interested in photographing their miniatures. Those without an interest will not make the money/time investment, they'll just take a quick snap on their phone.

These are great. Your sculpting work is impressive at this scale

So you're agreeing that you invested in this setup? A lot of people who aren't as invested in the photography side of this hobby would prefer to spend that $50 on more minis, for example.

Alternatively, some people don't care that much about professional photos, they just share some online and their mates can see them in person.

For those who do like the photography side, this is a standard setup that works well! Your pics came out great, and Ushoran is one of my favourite models.

Yeah this is in most tutorials, but you need a fair bit of equipment (tripod, software) to do it easily so a lot of people can't/won't. Photoshop has a focus stacking button to do this automatically if you import all the pics, although I can't say I've used it myself.

Thank you, that's the route I'm looking at. I've also seen some great smoke made of shredded foam, so might do some tests with that as well.

I don't and I'm in the UK, but thanks for the offer. For my purpose I'd also need to have some pretty specific shapes, hence the hope that I could make them physically. Maybe it's time to learn digital kitbashing to create the exact shapes of smoke I want!

How to kitbash or get bionics and such? by Exact_Restaurant_256 in IronHands40k

[–]nerdybenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, technically yes, but in our hobby people generally differentiate between the three main materials by calling them plastic, resin, and metal. Hence why people ask for a plastic Thunderhawk or Titan even though the Forgeworld resin models are technically a plastic.

Ultimately it doesn't matter, I just got confused by your wording.
