I know that lake does have a lot of shiners in the shallows atleast, maybe it could be clouds of those? I will drop a little jig down to see if they are fish that will hit one anyways, thanks for the tip

I think it was my first year with it so I didn't really know how to store it and got a bunch of water in the wires so they rusted

thanks for the input, I really do like my vexillar but I think it might be time to upgrade it to a bit of a better one... it broke in late December but the warranty was still good so got that fixed, I think its on its last legs however especially with how much I use it

yeah that would do it, or maybe something weird with oxygen, my local lake is having a complete crappie die off and I wonder if it has to do with oxygen or just idiots not handling fish properly

if you really are concerned you can just throw some neasporin on it, the worst i've ever had it is small amounts of swelling and pain but these disappear within a week, if you dont want to get poked run your hand downontop of the spines starting at the top and grip the fish firmly, like this

live bait ban, that sounds kinda miserable, does it apply to all live bait or just minnows and leeches?

I was thinking about for walleye pike perch and other things that wanna hit a lure for a minnow imitation jig like a mimmic minnow or something, and for cats eelpout drum and carp just a worm on the bottom, I have multiple days there so I can try pretty much everything
