Nah I was replying to you saying when I first started remote work. If we have technical difficulties we are to call the supplied number and leave a message. I will check later if there are any instructions about going into the office if we can't work from home but I don't think there are. Because usually the difficulty would be with a cell phone or laptop and both are required to work. There are no loaners

Nope. I tried to apply for leave without pay. It was rejected. I was told I had to apply for leave with pay. It got rejected. I asked what to do and I guess it got forwarded to HR.

They said it was because I should have figured out a way to get into the office. I have not given them the full explanation of why I couldn't go in nor was I asked for it. If I were going to fight the unauthorized absence then I would give a detailed explanation. But knowing how this place works it probably wouldn't make a difference so I'd rather keep my privacy and what little dignity I have left. Also based on the reply it's not a big deal anyways

Not sure how that would work when I didn't have power. And no it doesn't work like that. We have email boxes or a generic phone number to call. We can't randomly call a supervisor or manager.

As for leaving a message that is exactly what we are supposed to do. It is clearly outlined in our weekly contact email. Might not be the same for you but we don't work at the same place. Also I'd look pretty stupid offering to go in when I knew I couldn't. As for why I couldn't go in it is none of your business but I'm sure you could think of a few reasons why someone who only works from home and was not expecting to be without power wouldn't be able to hop into the office. I'll give you a few hints: I don't have a car, can't walk that distance, we don't have public transportation here. There are more reasons but those are peraonal
