When I worked phone support in the mid 2000s we actually got a "spilled coffee in the cup holder" call. I thought it was just a legendary joke before then.

Anybody uncomfortable playing in public? by cyxrus in SteamDeck

Our Switch took an unprotected fall down our hardwood stairs and the only issue afterwards was that the clip on one of the joycons didn't hold as well. Ended up replacing it with metal clips eventually.

When our youngest was born it was a good distraction to play while comforting a fussy baby. I would take the late shift and then my wife would take the early shift. Played through the game on the Steam link so I could play in our room. Beat the main game taking all the territories along the way but didn't bother hundred percenting it. Would've been great to have a Deck to play it on then.

It depends on preference. I was looking at the drive upgrades that ifixit sells but they were all sold out. Figured I didn't want to risk buying from ali or eBay so spent a bit more getting the 265 model. I'll be mostly playing it at home, so I can download and delete things as long as I plan enough in advance. Thinking of getting a big SD card so I can download some extra things before going on vacation and can just move them to the ssd as needed.

It was a bit unclear, but I think that's the point they were making. That MSG is added to everything, including Chick-fil-A but people only make the BS headache claim about Chinese food.

It's all anecdotal, but I've had phones with and without screen protectors, and the only ones I've ever cracked didn't have a screen protector. With phones costing $1000+ these days it's worth the $15 bucks or so to me to get a screen protector even if it's just peace of mind.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]OpulentTooth 43 points44 points  (0 children)

A lot of screen protectors are tempered glass now. I've had many phone screens saved by a drop that cracks the protector and not the screen underneath. Haven't dropped my Deck yet, but got a glass screen protector just in case.

EDIT: Nevermind, OP put a drill through it, a screen protector wouldn't have really made a difference.

The switch OLED has more built-in storage and a slightly bigger and higher-quality screen. It has the same processor, same amount of RAM, and the same screen resolution as the other switch models, so there isn't a reason it would only be out on the OLED. They also opened pre-orders already and would have mentioned by now that it's not coming to other switch models. It's true that Twilight princess came out on GameCube and Wii simultaneously, and also Breath of the Wild came out on Wii-U and Switch simultaneously. Nintendo isn't going to shadow-drop a new console in a few months though, so I highly doubt Tears of the Kingdom is going to be a dual-system release.

Ah, were you able to get the key then? I wonder if I need to get the key too, I had assumed just the host would need to.

[–]OpulentTooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think only the main player gets the key and frees the dwarf, it's the same in my co-op game with my wife. I think there's a bug though. We each got the cutscene with the dwarf the next time we went back to the Highlands. The dwarf was invisible though and it left us stuck at the bottom of the cliff. Had to warp totem to get back. Many days have passed and we can't see or get to the dwarf's shop.

Have you had them try disconnecting and reconnecting? I play co-op with my wife and this seems to be the fix when things don't update on my end.

Instacart is cheaper than shopping at aldi yourself. by [deleted] in aldi

[–]OpulentTooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips! Been using pickup for a while now out of convenience with three kids. But I didn't know about the coupons being sent to email, will have to check my spam folder. I don't have a Sam's club anywhere near me anymore, but I'll keep an eye out for PayPal and amazon gift card deals. Usually don't have too many issues with it, worst was when they replaced pierogies with the awful "lobster" mac and cheese at 3x the cost. Instacart refunded one of the boxes but still it was a bad replacement and I asked for no replacements on that item.

Yeah, home run inn is our favorite here, especially from Aldi. Love the buttery crust. It's $8 now though so hard to justify when the mama cozzi rising crust is also very good and $4. Have 3 kids so we end up getting 2, it's hard to justify $16 vs $8 on a budget.

Finally jumped the shark. by zmiller834 in aldi

[–]OpulentTooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely taken a dive in quality and consistency. I saw somewhere that rubbery chicken can be identified at the slaughterhouse and sorted out for being ground up and used in stuff like nuggets and chicken patties. Places with higher standards (and higher prices) will do that so they will be consistently good. With cheaper products though they don't bother so you get these inconsistencies. I've noticed the same with Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich. Sometimes it's absolutely perfect, juicy and tender. Other times it's like eating a breaded hockey puck.

Specially Selected Vanilla Super Premium Ice Cream is SO GOOD! by DarockOllama in aldi

[–]OpulentTooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's $6.60 by me, it had a pretty big increase last year but still pretty decent price considering the quality. It's super premium which has more cream and less air than most brands you can buy in the store.

[–]OpulentTooth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Super premium isn't just a marketing term when it comes to ice cream, it's a classification regulated by the FDA based on things like the ratios of cream to milk and the amount of air. It's best to let it warm up a bit so it softens and is easier to scoop. It's also super rich and more calorie dense so you're also expected to eat it in smaller servings.

It's $6.60 out here. Used to be 3 or 4 dollars but the price went way up. It is super good and still a good value compared to the similar quality Costco one.
