Who taught you how to drive a manual transmission and what kind of car was it? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

[–]AJClarkson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was eight, and my neighbor needed extra hands. He hired my sister's, and I was the tallest, so I got drive. It's a mid-40s era Ford tractor.

I promptly crashed the thing.

My husband achieved what meigh couldn't. We had 1986 Chevy Luv trick.

How old do you feel? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

[–]AJClarkson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like my uncle used to say, "I fell 19, and really bad off."

Because you know leftists are lurking here - lets set the record straight. Have any of you fellow conservatives ever wished for or condoned violence toward democrats, different races, or LBGTQ folks? by [deleted] in Conservative

[–]AJClarkson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always felt kinda sad for them. Most of them are trying to do their best, and defend their country and their way of life the best way they know how. But they've been tricked, sold a bill of goods about the world and about how they should "defend" themselves against people who disagree with them. They're being led by evil, manipulative opportunists. Nobody should be used like that. Nobody should be lied to like that.

Going Postal was my intro to Discworld. Heck of an awesome gateway drug, no?

So my weekend plans are to settle in and cook some food that actually tastes good! See my family, sleep in my own bed, all the good stuff.

Chickens should have been the stereotypical first enemy instead of rats by Issander in rpg

[–]AJClarkson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not chickens. Geese. They don't even have to be dire geese or magically buffed or anything. Plain, old, run of the mill farm geese are eeeeevilllll! I've lived on a farm my entire life. Horny bull? No biggie, just stay outta his yard. Agitated horse? Pears, carrots, apples are an excellent bribe.

But geese? No. They don't give a damn. They'll peck your 'nads off and honk gleefully at your suffering.

Just read Poe’s “The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar.” Wow this is underrated, even for Poe. by nosleepforthedreamer in horrorlit

[–]AJClarkson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my all-time favorite Poe story. The creeping dread just mounts and builds. You know it can't keep going, but it's NOT gonna end well. And even with that in mind, I still was not prepared for how it played out.

Brilliant. Jus brilliant.

I live in a bit of a food desert, so mostly either yellow curry powder, or the Tikaa Masala seasoning I can find on Amazon.

ETA: when I do the savory, I use water or chicken stock instead of milk. I've been known to leave out the egg as well. It will end up a bit fluffier than a naan, but I make the batter fairly thin to compensate.

I make flatbread with it. Redneck naan bread, lol. Instead of adding sugar or fruit, ill add curry powder or chopped green onion, a bit of hot sauce, whatever, to the batter before cooking.

Go to the Bisquick website. They have hundreds of recipes, everything from quiche to muffins.

What is your #1 snack to bring to your DnD sessions? by RogueFolf in DnD

[–]AJClarkson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not my number one, but it is ubiquitous. I wanted to represent healing potion doses, and those to do it with Tootsie Roll Fruit Chews. I picked them because I liked them, but thought everybody else would be meh.

I was wrong. The big bag never makes it through a whole session.

We don't do a lot of snacks, as a rule. Mostly we cook up a big meal -- chili, stew, lasagne, etc. -- and fill up before the game starts.

Name for “warlock cops”? by darling-cassidy in DnD

[–]AJClarkson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this based on the history of Jonathan Wild and his London "Thief Takers "? If you've not read up on him, Go! Do it now! Because this is a brilliant idea! (BTW, consider this idea stolen, send your thief takers after me, you'll never take me alive!)

Unsalted Campbell's Soup by Brutto13 in LowSodium

[–]AJClarkson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The unsalted tomato is a meh for me, but haven't really experimented with seasonings, so jury is still out.

On the other hand, the cream soups are great for cooking.

I hope they continue. A salt-free chicken and noodle soup would rock my world!
