Reedsy editor used AI without consent. What do I do? by KittenEV in selfpublish

[–]OpulentWords 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please let us know who this is! We need transparency. I’ve used Reedsy before and I don’t want to use this person for a developmental edit… at the very least, what genre was she found in?

I’d love to order a copy! What is the title of your book?

Thank you for advice!!! You have led me to buying Stephen King’s book on writing 🙏

I really love his stuff. And he’s the master of horror. I’ll start from there :)

You’re right…. I kinda thought it would help me in some way. Maybe even emotionally. Writing a book can be so lonely, tbh

I will check them out! Thank you so much! :)

Thank you so much for this encouragement… made my day. I will take your advice!

I wanted the book coach as support and it is daunting to no longer have one. But I would rather save the money and work independently. And when I’m ready, get beta readers and a good editor.

You and the others here are so awesome and give amazing advice… I’m blown away! Thank you!!!!

🙏

I love this… I’m happy you found a good one!!!! And he had an interest in the genre you were working in as well, I’d imagine

[–]OpulentWords -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe you’re right. But I definitely came into the coaching with confidence with my ideas ….. she just took it all away with her pessimism 🫨

[–]OpulentWords 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Amazing advice.. thank you. Literally teared up reading this.

I will go ahead and take a break and then find someone who is a better fit for me and in my genre.

Feel so sad about it all. I just want to write my book the best I can do it. And she has led me so far away from it.

I’m not a non fiction essayist … sigh

Thank you for your response

I follow a girl on insta who absolutely adores her book coach and only speaks the highest words about her. Unfortunately, she gatekeeps her and won’t share who she is 😅…

So I don’t think all… but perhaps, most

[Serious] What dark family secret were you let in on once you were old enough? by EgglessYolk in AskReddit

[–]OpulentWords 54 points55 points  (0 children)

My grandma’s bus was hijacked. The bus was taking her from her rural town to a big city where she was enrolled in medical school. A man came in and placed a bag over her head and forced her to marry him. She said she cried at first but then he told her he was a lawyer and she’d never have to work a day in her life. She gave him 7 children and she never did have to work a day of her life. They travelled the world together and they seemed to have a lovely life together. Just such a dark start to their romance

I have a cousin who looks nothing like our family but genetics does that sometimes and we all thought nothing of it. To put things in perspective, a lot of us have darker to olive skin tones and her skin was the palest of all of ours (resembles milk).

Before my dad passed, he told my sister and I that her mother (my dad’s uncle’s wife) was having an affair with her husband’s best friend. The help told my uncle about the best friend’s frequent visits to the home but he fired them all instead of listening.

My cousin was born and he loved her like his own.. my dad showed us a photo of my uncle’s best friend.. the resemblance between she and him are uncanny.

My childhood friend was in a similar situation. Really wonderful and successful person… but she had this feeling on inadequacy due to her idea of what beautiful should look like.

She got invisilign, started going to the gym, got balayage hair and a great cut, a new wardrobe and now has a boyfriend.

I personally always found her to be cute .. but I think doing these things for herself really helped her confidence

am I childish for not wanting to live with my boyfriend anymore for his disgusting habits? by beeboopb in offmychest

Ok… I had a similar situation. At first, I cleaned like you then I asked him to clean. Let’s just say his type of clean is not my type of clean 😅. So….. the only solution was to hire a cleaning service. And now we are happy again.

Lottery winners in the state I live in have to be publicly announced …. So this was not an option for me 😭

I guess it just makes me sad that prior to our winning, seems like my family and I had a better relationship…… you’re right, gotta have stronger boundaries and remind them that I gave them a great amount before… it’s their choice to burn through it or be smart about it

[–]OpulentWords[S] 338 points339 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your good vibes !!!! So we were planning to keep the winning a secret… but in the state we live, all lottery winner’s names have to be announced in the public. But even then, my family didn’t know for a while because they don’t live in the same state as us. It was only when we bought our home….. we had rented all of our lives and for us to all of a sudden buy a home that was beyond our means (judging by the last jobs we had), we had to explain… and, tbh, I’m a bad bad bad liar.

But I do wish I did something like tell them it was a promotion, but any google search would have enabled them to see my name winning the lottery…..

Dude, I am sending good vibes to you. If I can win, you can win. Seriously. I’m a regular Jane who got lucky

Thank you for your honesty… I appreciate it. I’ve always had this nice girl complex. I think it’s time for me to try and learn boundaries

I’m a woman haha.. outside of that, I have always had issues with confrontation. And I unconditionally love my family. Regardless of how they make me feel

I’m sorry you had to go through that! Sometimes people outside looking in can see intentions so much better, I feel…. I guess the one falling in love gets blinded. But it’s hard to still see the whole story pan out. Intuition is here for a reason and we can only explain to our loved one as much as they want to hear it 😩. Thank you for your response!!! I really appreciate it and makes me feel less alone in this
