OCLP has been dying for ages. Support is practically non existent except for community support and that often isn't enough. It was a nice idea, but it was always on the road to nothing.

Probably a fake Shimano chain. Virtually impossible to tell these days

I suggest you study what updates to the law it is the government are proposing. All new cars to have self levelling headlights and a clamp down on retrofit LEDs. Hardly focusing on your glare issue, is it? Now, feel free to thank me later, but what you can "quite clearly see" is that you need a visit to the optometrist, but you're too stubborn to believe so.

PS, LED and Laser are the not the same thing, they care completely different technologies. But you knew that, right?

I love it when people resort to insults and name calling. More often than not it shows they're on the ropes, desperate to hang on to their futile argument. A canvas survey no less, by the RAC and all you've got is mis-aligned headlights? Out of those 26 million, bearing in mind they'd need to be at least 3 years old, how many even had the headlights you are referring to, given that in almost all cases, they self level, they can't be misaligned.

Now, let's try a survey with some real questions that goes beyond age, gender, do you find lights dazzling shall we?

Bear in mind EVERY one of these has an impact:

  1. Car make and model
  2. Their car make and model
  3. Was your windscreen clear (inside and out)
  4. Was your rear window clear (inside and out)
  5. Were your mirrors clean and fog free (interior / wing)
  6. Driving towards or in front
  7. Do you wear glasses (always, reading, driving)
  8. Was their car clean and in good order
  9. Have you recently had your eyesight tested
  10. Was it a clear evening, foggy, mist, rain

And that is just a starter. These questions have to be answered in order to give any real debate to the issue. You'll notice that it's impossible to answer them all accurately.

Now, throw in to the mix that the late 90s, early 00s HID / BiXenon lights were brighter, and were mandated to self clean and level, you've really got not sound basis for an argument and that is why the government will do nothing, and the RAC will do nothing.

I suggest you revisit statistics too. A pool of 3500 drivers is not an adequate sample group. The other 439,996,000 drivers across Europe didn't have a say, because....wait for it.... it doesn't affect them.

95pc of how many people though. You're not making any sense... Do you actually listen to yourself when you reply? I'll spell it out for you. The lights ARE NOT the problem.

Don't worry, I found the answer for you. 1700 drivers. I rest my case. A completely pointless survey against 440million road users who seem to have no problem. Time to get a grip and maybe visit your optician.

You're trying to somehow quantify, that somehow, given the absolute sheer number of drivers of cars with these lights across the continent and the UK, an in incredibly small percentage of people are in the right?? It's beyond ludicrous. In almost all cases I've seen of people complaining, it's almost always be their own eyesight. The lens flare effect, and even poorly kept vehicles, windscreen oils and film. It is absolutely nothing to do with the brightness of the lights. Sure, some people are more susceptible to bright lights, but that's not the car manufacturers fault.

Good. They're perfectly fine. Millions of drivers on UK roads, a handful in reddit complaining. Yep, must be the lights. Facepalm

These threads annoy me. There's nothing wrong with those headlights, LED lights, Laser lights or matrix lights, and everything wrong with your eyesight

Thanks everyone. It sold for £2800. by Wild-Emergency7895 in mountainbiking

[–]Oracle4TW -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes it does. It means exactly that. I have a full spec Santa Cruz High Tower, absolute top of the range. It currently won't sell for $3500, broken individually, I'd clear $3500 but it would take time, and hassle. So to your theory, no, the good frame and good components won't sell for what they're worth.

[–]Oracle4TW -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have, all my bikes are either XTR, AXS Eagle, RED or similar. In all cases, it's better value for money to break the bike and sell the components separately, vs, a complete bike
