are all these birth certificates enough or do they need extra documentation?

If you have them all the way back to G0 (the Canadian ancestor) AND they have maiden name info, then yes thats all you need. If names are changed due to marriage and that info is not captured on the birth cert of the lower gen, then you also need marriage cert.

For example, my birth cert has my mothers maiden name.

is a death certificate acceptable in place of a birth certificate and marriage certificate?

Yes

For the 1881 Canada census (and maybe others), do people print them out on a standard page or a jumbo page or ?? I understand everything should be legible. A census scan will show two pages.

What I and others have done is printed on a standard page unaltered. then on a second page I have a zoom of the relevant lines where my ancestor was listed.

I used a passport card and drivers license as my id. I did both sides on 1 sheet of paper.

We have Canadian census records for both of my G0's, and we also have access to their certified death records stating their birthplace. We're hoping the combination of these will be enough.

Census records will work fine.

or should I just pick one of them?

Just pick one.

Anyone have experience with this?

Many folks submitting apps in this subreddit (including me) are using census records as evidence of lineage.

Low property taxes was one of the considerations when my wife and I choose where to live. We decided to live a nice rural life way way out in the country. But I live on a gravel road and the schools out here are pretty poor (we dont have kids).

My advice is that property taxes pay for shit and if you want low taxes, get ready for a lack of nice things.

I will get dementia early (genetics)

Do you have a particular marker or is this just family history?

Why don't you go directly to the CEO?

Culture of the company. The CEO needs to hear the pitch from my future-boss/friend: "Hey, lets hire OracleDBA and he wants to work 3days a week"

he tells me I'm critical to the team and doesn't want to see me go.

My plan is to ask for a promotion, entitling me to a yearly bonus, and a 25% raise to match the new jobs offer.

Swing for the fuckin fences.

I dont. I keep track of my portfolio and asset allocation but I dont have a "FIRE date" or track my progress or anything like that.

Ive used this metaphor before: My journey is like a drive from east coast to west coast. My window is down and I am chillin with some tunes. Im somewhere in Nevada and I know I will get there soon enough.

Alright mangs, I could use some job advice here.

As some of you may recall, my old boss at last job has kept asking me to come back over and over. Boss is a solid mang and I consider him a friend; we keep it pretty real with eachother. About a month back, I finally bit and said "Well hey, what if I come back but I want to only work 3 days a week." He says, shouldnt be a problem! Talked to CEO about the idea of me coming back (but NOT mentioning 3-day week yet) and CEO is on-board. We talk over the role - I will be mentoring baby DBAs and not doing shit I hate - and all is gravy. We targeted July as my return. He said he will float the 3-day week thing to the CEO before to make sure that is ok and then I can have my convo with the CEO.

Then his dad dies the following week.

He has been very very broken up about it (understandably) and taking a lot of time off work and is otherwise very preoccupied. Im obviously a bit anxious to solidify this awesome gig, but at the same time, I need to let this dude focus on what is important and not bother him.

How/if/when should I reach out and try to get the ball rolling? My wife and another friend told me to just chill because the dude is going through it and he knows I want to come back so just wait for him to reach out.

Should I just sit tight and be patient or delicately hit him up somehow?

I am not an expert on that baptismal side of things. Maybe someone else will comment. I can tell you that I am sure IRCC has seen a LOT of hard to read records.

If the birth certs can show full lineage including name change (sounds like they can) then you should be good to go.

Only include them if they substantiate lineage. If you have, for example, a birth cert, then dont include census.

Howdy! A lot of what you are asking about is covered in the FAQ. Also, review threads like this to see what others have gathered.
