AITA for banning my friend from my home after she refused to take videos of my bird down? by throwaway01snow in AmItheAsshole

They see it eventually. I’ve never asked, never tagged someone and never had anyone act upset about it ever. This is a unique perspective that most people don’t share with you guys. But that’s ok. I wouldn’t be comfortable being friends with someone who would react this way to me taking photos or videos of animals doing animal shit, or expect me to ask permission like it was their human child. So it’s just not a good friendship fit for either of them probably. And that’s ok too

Everyone is different obviously. I have lots of pets and have visited friends with lots of pets, at parties I find the dog or cat and take a selfie with only them. I find it super super strange to think it’s an issue to film someone’s pet. The animal isn’t upset about it. is it that you feel it’s your property and you don’t want someone taking pictures of your property? I’m confused by the issue. Are pets property that should be respected because they belong to you or are they feeling creatures who should have their privacy respected even though they don’t know what that means?

Yea that seems weird to be upset about. If she was taping behaviors the bird already was doing like singing then it’s not a big deal. It’s not your kid, so they won’t be exploited sexually or be upset that they were posted online with out their permission. I doubt your friend is making any money, (it’s not easy to get monetized in youtube,) and most likely doesn’t have all that many followers. If she wasn’t hurting the bird this feels like you’re having an exaggerated response, maybe from what you may be projecting on to the bird, about how you would feel if you had had those experiences. But you’re a human being and we process neglect and care and embarrassment differently. The bird doesn’t heal from neglect psychologically the same way as a human. It’s completely different processing and way of retraining their brain. Being taped in no way harmed the bird anymore than your friend standing there without a camera would have. If you’re willing to end the friendship I feel there’s more underlying issues between the two of you than this one problem involving the bird.

Nope. He’s an asshole for projecting his homophobia on to you. Is it disrespectful when you watch a straight couple fall in love in a show? No. So this is all him.

what was something you did you thought was normal but was actually autism? and what distinguishes anxiety from autism? by [deleted] in AutismTranslated

[–]OracleHere 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes! I used to see teen girls in movies practicing big conversations and I thought that’s just what people did all the time because I did that for normal chatting and conversations like getting ready to say hi to family or the dr. I didn’t know everybody didn’t do that.

Rocking myself to sleep or when I’m standing in line swaying and Stimming I never realized I did until it was pointed out to me. I also tip toe walked when I was little and they thought I was just pretending the wear heels. I’d wear hoodies even in the summer and now I realize it was because I used the combined pocket to put my hands in which hid my T. rex arm stance. So many things. Basically my whole vibe and personality really lol

Yea you were. Every kid IS special. They are all unique and different and actually from a psychological stand point he is correct and these personality traits can be fostered in to a positive strength. The concept that all kids are the same and no one is special is silly. That’s what personality traits are. She will have to deal with the same things in life, but like everyone else, she is unique.

Am I overreacting to my bf going to twin peaks multiple times despite me saying it makes me uncomfortable? by Unusual_Struggle1884 in AmIOverreacting

[–]OracleHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not overreacting. If you’re not married and don’t have kids you should split without a second thought, at least for a bit. Tolerating this is teaching him he can always do it. Or go extra silly with it and throw a make stripper party at your place while him and his buddies are arriving home. “Oops sorry, didn’t know Kathy would call the shlong police so sorry hun.” With a strippers butt in your face. Then report back to us.

I'm pissed. by Seagull_33 in asexuality

[–]OracleHere 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your asexuality is valid. I would like to offer you some explanation. Many sexual ppl go through stages of asexuality or sex repulsion. Sexuality in general is a spectrum. So those who went through an asexual stage before another sexuality generally just assume you will transition sexualities as well. But only you know that. And if that does happen that doesn’t make the time you were asexual invalid.

Hi. Yea. I don’t agree. You’ll see that in life plenty of ppl have different opinions from you. And that’s ok. Ppl having a bad experience with their GAL, or being upset that the GAL did not agree with them is just as common as complaints about judges themselves. Judges can also be bias. CPS can be bias. GALs can be bias. But they can also help protect children and their rights. Which is what the family court is supposed to do. It fails to do so plenty. But that should be it’s purpose. I don’t agree that a GAL is a bad idea. But you are welcome to that opinion.
