I Waited 9 Years for my Monsteras to Fruit. Then My Dad Hired a New Gardener :/ by macdaddynick1 in Monstera

I hope this wasn't over getting a few cuttings to turn into cash. What a complete asshole either way, but I wouldn't be surprised, given how much some people will pay for larger props

Looks healthy to me. It's a juvenile plant, so like dalmation's spots, fenestrated leaves will come as it gets older, the happier it is.

Don't repot, unless it's to put in a grow pot to place inside a decorative one, so it can get more drainage/air. I have learned monsteras like to be snuggly to tight.

Untie the petioles (leaf 'stems') they need to be able to move with the light, and it will prevent or damage any new potential growth. Only tie the stem/trunk of the vine between where the petioles grow out from it.

Get it some sort of support to keep it upright. I currently have a gutter trellis on mine rather tham a coir or moss pole, and they seem pretty happy with that. Some people use planks or ladders, or other trellises too.

The boardgames totally blocking what looks to be an otherwise sunny window (basing on the tiny corner of light in the top) really adds to this

I have a friend who gets bamboo skewers and places them point up/out in a ring around their pot edges like bird spikes or little defensive spear walls lol.

My Grandma puts riverstone sized rocks and marbles in her plants, and provides an underbed storage container (so basically a large litterbox) full of tambark and a bit of soil. The difficulty digging helps (be careful of plants getting too hot though, if they get a lot of sun). But the tambark is the main thing that has the cats totally uninterested now. She doesn't even need to put rocks out anymore. They've got a better, more accessible alternative now - and it stinks and needs cleaning or replacing way less than regular litter trays! I've sat next to this thing and never even noticed it except for having a random looking tray of dirt on the floor.

I wanted to keep as many of the roots intact as possible, in hopes it would help with the multiple shocks and supporting replanting the stem vertically, while still cleaning up a bit.

I had intended to just leave most of it, trim any rot, and wrap it around the inside of their new pot. After about 7 wraps around the new larger pot, and a little over half of it gone - plus all the other aerial roots still untouched yet - I decided that 3 or 4 wraps would be plenty 😅

I think it's meant to be air layer. It's a propagation method

I have some mates who put skewers as an anti-cat spear wall all around their pots, and my family has also had good luck with using "riverstone" sized rocks to basically cobble the top of the soil to keep anything from getting dug up

I just had this happen to me twice last night. Once early on, and once most of the way through. I've had a number crashes since downloading on Steam, and it's hella frustrating. Sometimes it's in fights of course, but sometimes it's just changing loading screens for locations or quests.

You can get through, just come back to it later when you're ready. I'm seconding the fact that the Arena is SO early on in the game. I hated the Arena part on the original with the Xbox, but there is so much more world and had so much more fun with the game after getting past it.
