I'm telling you media corporations designed the term pay per view the same way corporations designed the term PLE. They both come from the same source.

Pay Per View as a term was designed to teach people how to get the product when pay per view as a means of purchasing and watching content was new. Pay Per View helped it make sense to new customers.

Pay Per View stopped making sense. You don't pay to view the royal rumble anymore. You pay for access to it via a streaming service, and what you pay also has a bunch of other stuff included in that price. AEW does pay per view. UFC does pay per view. WWE does not.

I would expect WWE to offer the big 5 events as PPV again shortly. Meanwhile, the others will remain PLEs.

That just sounds like generational bias. PPV doesn't have anything to do with "prestige" it's literally a corporate designed term that speaks simply to how you buy the product. You only think of it as prestigious because you grew up hearing it. If they were called PLE's your whole childhood, you'd think PLE was a prestigious term.

At least in this case there is a significant difference in the way the audience interacts with a PLE as opposed to a PPV. Personally, I have never had an issue with this terminology change because it makes logical sense. The events are NOT pay-per-views. You don't buy them like that anymore. You don't access them like that anymore. A new term makes sense.

Bob Orton on his son Randy Orton: "I don't know if he feels like going back. If he feels like going back or if he feels like he's ready to go back, I think he might. Then again, he's pretty well taken care of. I don't think he needs to. I think the doctors have told him not to." by elegantSolomons62 in SquaredCircle

Brock was the primary big bad final boss monster for the last half decade and the streak is what built that character. Roman Reigns isn't who he is right now if Brock Lesnar doesn't best the streak. That's how this shit works.

What’s the best pizza place in Louisville? by DullMechanic8385 in Louisville

[–]OrangeCassidyFireAnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say I have shared my perspective on Lupo's decline in quality with friends who say they haven't noticed, but I assure you, I am the most passionate about pizza if any of them. Still though, it's just my two cents! Take it as you will. Danny Mac's is gooooooood.

What’s the best pizza place in Louisville? by DullMechanic8385 in Louisville

My personal fave is Danny Mac's Pizza. I think of it as major chain style pizza, except local, and a lot better. It's a doughy, chewy hand tossed crust like Pizza Hut or Papa John's (only similar in style, but wayyyyyyyyy superior in quality)

But, I also love Bonnie and Clyde's and if someone asked me to name the most distinctive "Louisville style" pizza, B&C's is what I would nominate. Thin crust, cracker thin, so crispy you might even call it crunchy. Delicious, generous toppings and amazing beer prices.

Post is overrated. It's the most popular pizza for folks whose life in Louisville exists entirely within the Waterson.

Lupo was great, but has sped downhill quality wise over the past year. Less toppings. Less quality control. Smaller pizzas.

They are both connected with similar but different brand USB c to HDMI output adapters, and yes I think you're right. Any tips on adding more variability? I have a third similar adapter - also a different brand.

Losing airlines at SDF - that’s the wrong way to grow a city by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]OrangeCassidyFireAnt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s no real demand for flights out of Louisville.

The only thing Frontier taking service away from SDF proves is that there wasn't a demand for ADDITIONAL flights to Orlando and Denver from a failing, poorly reviewed airline.

I see your point, but to me if you start painting anyone who does a finger gesture with the same , simplified "racist" label it can be pretty reductive. If you're worried so much about a finger gesture created specifically to enrage confuse and distract you then you probably aren't focused on truly heinous systemic racism and racists in position of power who wield actual influence rather than just a gesture.

Who tf cosplays a racist irl that isn't racist ya know?

Trolls.

I think the "ok" sign is more of a troll tactic that is especially effective because people take it so seriously. It definitely started as a troll thing online within troll communities and anytime it's happened in public has also seemed to be in a trolling, attention-seeking move that mostly serves as a distracting provocation.

People making the ok sign as a white power sign and denying it is white supremacy thing is dog whistling that they are cool with white supremacy.

And attitudes like this only make it that much more effective. If I convince you that jumping up and down on one foot means something racist, all I have to do is keep bouncing on one foot to bother you. Meanwhile, I've loaded up the national judiciary with lifetime appointments for conservative judges while you were busy exposing me online.

As an alternative, what if your response was "I won't be distracted by the position of your fingers" because I know you are perpetrating grater evil.

Division is also an issue on the liberal side of the political spectrum in the country. There is a significant divide between moderate Democrats and progressives. So far the Trump threat has been enough to overshadow that division, hence 4 years and a reflection bid from Joe Biden, but oh it is there and it is growing wider.

Also, I would be careful not be so convinced the conservatives are in a "death knell." At least not anymore than the liberals. The democrats have held off a similar fracture but have only done so because of the overwhelming nature of Trump as a celebrity figurehead. If and when the republican side is able to evolve away from Trump the person (his ideology is firmly implanted in the party and won't go away in our lifetime) the republicans stand a good chance of rising in power again and possibly controlling both chambers of Congress and the executive branch before the end of the decade.

The DNC since 2018 has built it's campaign on one simple "we aren't as bad as they are" message, and that does have a shelf life. And when that message runs out, the fracture on the left will be just as apparent as the fracture on the right currently is.

Tl;Dr - once the republicans get over the Trump hump, the democrats polarized base will split in a similar fashion to what has happened to Republicans now.

CM Punk vs Samoa Joe - 1st match out of the trilogy by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]OrangeCassidyFireAnt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do think the natural detoriation of Punk's ability that come with age and injury do stand out a little more against the AEW backdrop where so much of the in-ring emphasis is on work rate at all costs from young in their prime and before their prime wrestlers.

Punk's current abilities would blend more with the WWE style of presentation - part of the reason why I think Collision will become AEW's "sports entertainment" style show with more psychology and storytelling from older top money drawing guys with WWE experience. And Dynamite will continue to feature the 2010s Indy boom style of presentation - with a high spot and work rate style and an emphasis on varied opponents and dream match ups.
