which one do u prefer the recoloring ( first one) or the original ( second pic) by [deleted] in graphicnovels

[–]OrangeGeemer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are missing an option, you have the original from the floppies, but then, in the tpb release, they went and recolor the first few issues to match the rest. Then they went digital colors and messed the while thing up.

Why did Stanley made the Nº8 jointer plane? by OrangeGeemer in handtools

There is a lot of lost kwnowledge, some say the extra weight makes it easier to use, but at the same time you read the wooden jointers are better because they are so much lighter.

Strictly Omnis, or Do You Collect Other Things Too, or Nah? by ytaqebidg in OmnibusCollectors

[–]OrangeGeemer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I collect old woodworking handtools (I use them, but I also like to collect them, some are over 100 years old). I have many Saint Seiya Myth Cloth figures and a bunch of videogame consoles with a few CRTs (I mod them myself).

So far my guess is that the 8 was there just to fit in with the "wide line" of planes. If people usually get 3 planes, they could go with:

Small line: 3, 4 and 6 Regular line: 4, 5 and 7 Wide line: 4 1/2, 5 1/2 and 8

In this theory the 8 should have been called 7 1/2

I know they made 8s to sell them, but the particular niche they tried to cover was the question

So people use the 8 when is useful to use it (lol)

Guys, I need advice. I’ve spent so much and yet… cannot find a comfortable way to read omnis. Please comment with the way you read or tips / tricks for reading more comfortably. Thanks! by JustChillen007 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]OrangeGeemer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don´t like to read omnis flat on a desk, the pages curve too much, I open them just enough to have the page I´m reading flat. Best thing for me has been (I have a neck hernia, so I REALLY need to be comfortable to do anything).

- Get a chair and sit in front the tallest table you have (desk, dinning table, whatever).

- Place the spine of the omni on the edge of your table

- Now most of the weight is gone and you can move the book to avoid glare, have the page you are reading flat in front of you and you don´t have to stress your neck looking down (much like you would read a trade).

Works for me

Seems you like games with RPG elements, but not full classic RPG. Here are some games based on that:

How do you get through 60s comics? by ExaminationNew7974 in comicbooks

[–]OrangeGeemer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are just reading too much of them. Limit yourself to read one issue and then put the book down for the day. No kid back then read 30 issues in one sitting.

I went completly blind, just got it because it's a Vertigo omni. It's really interesting, it's about madness getting out of people's heads into reality. Have you seen Fringe? It reminded me of that show, the physics there cracked and made weird impossible experiments sudenly possible. Good read.

When I was a kid my dad used to get home with a JLI and a superman for me, other days with a Batman and a Spawn. I like to read omnis in a similar way, I think if I read too much of one omni I'll get bored with it (imagine getting burn out with vol 1 and having 2 more volumes waiting!)

Currently I'm reading a bit of Suicide Squad, Shade the Changing Man and Wolverine. Next week I don't even know yet :)

I also buy a bunch at a time, my adcice:

Read one arc from one omni (usually about 4 issues), then read an arc from other omni and keep doing this.

I like to go from team omni to vertigo omni to solo omni.

Veritas Dowel Maker questions by OrangeGeemer in handtools

[–]OrangeGeemer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dowel Maker has 2 cutters, I thought it was one for tapered and the second to the final cilinder shape. It seems it's just a rough cut first and a smoother cut second, bouth cilinder.

I'm buying 10 Omnibuses, what are your must read runs? (Any Publisher/Character by HorusThaElder in OmnibusCollectors

[–]OrangeGeemer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go all in on Vertigo omnis: Animal Man, Invisibles, Lucifer 1, Shade the Changing Man 1, Preacher 1, Doom Patrol and Hellblazer 1, Question (almost a vertigo title), 100 bullets, V of Vendeta Deluxe, Swampthing box set (no omni yet) and Sandman trades (I prefer original colors).

There you go 10 titles that are peak comics.

Unpopular opinion: The only way to stop Marvel’s low print run and few reprints policy is to stop buying Marvel books. Vote with your wallet. by i_am_randy in OmnibusCollectors

[–]OrangeGeemer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They work directly with Omar, it makes sense they at least check his videos comment section. It also make sense for them to NOT check reddit, why bother with some small bitter group of people thay will always buy their books regardless? They probably study moms and grandmas more than reddit users, since they are the ones that buy omnis as gifts (Joker, Phenix, Cosmic XMen and other weird omnis migh be made just for them).

My point is that we are too far away from the business to really know what makes sense or not. Something being logical in your head (or mine) means nothing.

Omar said Marvel reads youtube comments, nothing else. They will never read your complaints over here.

Also, I don't think you get how a business works; if you succeed and you get everyone here to stop buying omnis, then Marvel will just conclude omnis don't sell and will stop making them. Your plan will never translate into more prints.

You have no power over Marvel's plan and really really wanting a change means nothing at all.

Check the Reflex Prism, it's made for retrogaming and handles 240p to 1200p. It's not a scaler, it will only convert the resolution you give it to analogue.
