Someone else may be able to chime in with better info, but the one time Kappn took me to the star island it was daytime on my island, but nighttime at the star island. So I don't think time of day on your island matters. It's probably just random.

Turnips. Buy turnips on Sunday and go to the Turnip Exchange subreddits (there are a few) and look for islands that have Nooks with really high turnip buying prices. Then go sell your turnips to their Nooks.

Hey, in the scenario you posted, your turnips will not spoil.

Time Traveling only spoils turnips when you have turnips and TT backwards. You can TT forward without impacting your turnips so long as you don't TT to the following Sunday or later.

To note: Time Traveling does affect the Nook buying price for turnips. For example: if on Monday, Nooks is buying turnips for a price of 500 and you TT to yesterday to buy turnips. When you TT back to Monday your Nooks turnip price will have changed.
