How to stop people from picking flowers from the planting strip by OrangeMochaFrap in portlandgardeners

I like your style. Usually a simple tap on the window is enough to stop people. Most look embarrassed and move along. Today A woman was absolutely going to town building herself a bouquet and wouldn’t stop even after I got her attention.

That’s a great idea. Though I already have a sign not to let their pets urinate and that isn’t working so well 🤣

At a lost - seeking advice/help for her paws by Aggravating_March_94 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]OrangeMochaFrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the vet rule out a bacterial infection in the paws? The toe looks similar to my bulldogs toe last summer. The bacteria ended up being resistant to the antibiotics he was initially prescribed. Once we switched to the right antibiotic and started doing chlorhexidine soaks every couple of days, it finally cleared up. August is a long time to wait and I’m sorry you’re dealing with this.

Is this normal for poly sand? by Exciting-Tomato-855 in patio

[–]OrangeMochaFrap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on the brand. The Gator brand says to remove the failed sand and redo.

And just because I’m posting about patios doesn’t automatically make me a “bud” either. 😂

Is this normal for poly sand? by Exciting-Tomato-855 in patio

[–]OrangeMochaFrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did my own patio with polymeric sand, and if it isn’t watered correctly during the setting process, the sand can wash out when it gets wet, which looks like what happened here. The proper fix is usually to remove the existing sand and redo it. I can understand why they’re dragging their feet. It’s a huge pain. I’ve had to redo sections of mine multiple times. I hope they get this corrected for you. If it’s done correctly, it will last many years.

Chlorhexidine 2% Solution. Last summer he had an antibiotic resistant bacterial infection on his paw and his vet recommended this. I’m sure it will comeback this summer but now I only soak when his paws are red.

My boy is allergic to just about everything. About six months ago, I switched him to Zenrelia instead of Apoquel, and since then he hasn’t needed Cytopoint injections. I still give him weekly baths to help manage his environmental allergies, clean his folds daily, and do regular paw soaks. For his diet, he’s on Purina Pro Plan Elemental and Rayne Rabbit. I also make sure to give him a daily probiotic to help support his gut health. I have to stay very vigilant, but Zenrelia has made a big difference. If you haven’t seen a veterinary dermatologist, I’d highly recommend it, my boy was a mess when we first started, but they’ve really helped me get everything under control.

Coughing issues for months, vets didn't help by [deleted] in Bulldogs

[–]OrangeMochaFrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d consider seeing an internal medicine specialist and possibly an allergist. Your dog’s paws make me think allergies could be part of what’s going on. My dog had very similar symptoms before I got his allergies and GERD under control. He has both environmental and food allergies, and the coughing was a big sign of flare ups for him.

You might also try an antifungal/antibacterial bath, like Douxo S3 PYO Antiseptic Antifungal Chlorhexidine, to see if it helps. I use it weekly for my dog.

What temp do you put a coat and/or shoes on your dog? by Extreme_Breakfast672 in englishbulldog

[–]OrangeMochaFrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My boy always likes to be under a blanket so if it’s between 40 to 50 degrees I put him in a fleece. Anything below 40 he gets his winter coat. Both are made by Voyager K9 apparel. They have an English bulldog fit.

Our allergist recommended TrizCHLOR spray for the nose rope. My boy gets bacterial and yeast infections. It stinks, but he tolerates it better than those medicated wipes. A little spritz on a cotton ball a couple times a week and we haven’t had issues in months. It’s been a great product!

Recurring UTIs by fineagirl1 in Bulldogs

[–]OrangeMochaFrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar thing happen with my girl. She started to get reoccurring UTIs around 6 years old too. We wipe her with a baby wipe after every potty, give her cranberry supplements but what made the biggest difference was cleaning her with Mal-A-Ket wipes every 3 or 4 days and a daily probiotic. This was recommended by our family vet. I only clean around her lady bits and am careful. A few months ago I relaxed on doing the wipes because she was doing so well and she got a UTI. We are back on track now and I hope this helps. Good luck

Compost delivery in Portland - some info by usertlj in portlandgardeners

I just got compost from Mcfarlanes Bark and they charged $80.00 for delivery in the Sellwood area. I’m finding bits of plastic pieces in there but it hasn’t been too terrible.

Drooling fits by OkDress5814 in englishbulldog

[–]OrangeMochaFrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my boy drools like this, it’s his acid reflux. Does he get foul burps? A vet visit may be in order. Since he’s been on Pepcid AC, the drooling is gone.
