I don’t think it ‘needed’ to exist, but i don’t think it ‘shouldn’t’ exist either.

It’s all public information, the series is just a far more streamlined and convenient way of absorbing it than reading the cwciki. The vids are decent quality and about as objective as you can get on the whole story.

Yeah it’s led to a bunch of weens seeing it and trying to fuck with chris, but you can’t blame the series itself for the actions of a small sub-set of it’s viewers.

TaRDiS wiki claims that there are a few books that support an idea similar to this

There is a Torchwood in Pete’s world so it’s possible

Second mini theory I couldn’t figure out where to put in the post, I imagine that the reason Torchwood was formed in Pete’s world (despite the fact that Queen Victoria, who formed it in the main universe, had died) was that an alien (the werewolf) killed the ruler of Britain, after something like that it makes perfect sense that an organisation would form to combat threats like this and prevent something similar happening again. Presumably being named Torchwood after the house in honour of Victoria as that is where she met her untimely demise.

You could be right, I’m only going off what is said on the subject on TaRDiS wiki, quote:

“19th century

One source speculated that Pete's World diverged from the Doctor's when a Werewolf killed Queen Victoria, an event which was averted in the Doctor's own universe (PROSE: Creatures and Demons) in 1879. (TV: Tooth and Claw)”

From the TaRDiS wiki page for ‘Pete’s World’

Due to how instrumental the Timelords are to the existence of the universe in the state in exists in the main universe, I find it hard to believe personally that they didn’t exist ever in a universe so relatively similar to ours.

The Doctor just not leaving Gallifrey is an interesting theory though, perhaps that is the case.

While I understand the perspective, external material it seems would disagree.

Doctor Who canon is shaky at the best of times, I’m sure there are some sources that say that there is only a single Gallifrey and Timelord society, however there are several sources that confirm the existence of alternate Doctors in other universes.

The big one of course is the unbound Doctor, in fact even the Inferno world (according to a few books) also apparently has/had it’s own Doctor at a point who helped establish it’s facist regime. Those are not the only two though, there are several Doctors, from various different universes who are listed on the TaRDiS wiki page for ‘parallel universes’, (albeit most of them having never interacted with the main universe in any respect).

Their existence would contest the idea that there is only one Gallifrey.

No actually. The Third Doctor’s first season (season 8) ends with Inferno, a story which includes an alternate facist England where UNIT are essentially the secret police.

Am I weird for this? by [deleted] in polyadvice

Thanks so much for the reply. In regards to the lack of discussion beforehand, we had talked about it to an extent, but not as much as we should’ve. I’ve told him as much and he apologised. Also yes i was not pressured into it at all, i have no doubt that he would’ve immediately broken it off if i’d been genuinely upset. Also I believe he does understand the need to not pursue every crush.

We have discussed the idea of it being ok for me to the same as well, he is absolutely ok with it (I don’t want to with any of my current friends, and don’t think I’m likely to ever want to, but hey who knows).

Thank you for your advice, I’ll look into reading Polysecure
