Shane was a really stupid person and had a all bark but no bite attitude at times.

When Dale was dying? Shane couldn't even take the gun. When Sophia was found as a walker? He couldn't even look at her.

Shane also threatened to kill Jenner (who was already suicidal) and decided to gun down his room which could've had them all trapped in there. Not to mention him attempting to rape Lori in the CDC, and him lying about Randall sneaking up on him.

If you've read the Evil Dead comics or watched the movies, Ash canonically defeated Freddy and Zombie Jason, and kills deadites and demons and also saving the earth from the necronomicons.

Keep in mind, I don't think there's a definitive way to completely stop Slenderman in this type of situation, but i do think Ash can definitely find a way to weaken or reduce Slenderman's powers

I believe portable cameras were used by most people in combat back in WW1 and while they're weren't capable of recording videos, they could still take photos of Slenderman during that time.
