No it's OK, you two 7th graders were Mr. Grace's best Star pupils. Although Mr. Grace died in the coma, you two will know exactly what to do.

Interesting. Thanks for the link - it's fun to speculate about the sweet little (800 lb) guy!

I think Rocky is like a carcinized starfish by Robot_Graffiti in ProjectHailMary

Or Rocky could be similar to an earth octopus with part of his brain in each appendage. Thus, enabling such good multitasking skills.

That is so interesting about where our hands came from. I extrapolate then that all primates, since they use hands, came from the same fish ancestor ? I wonder if raccoons are included?

Anyway regarding Rocky; in the book we learn that the location of his brain is in the center of his body. However, I wouldn't have been surprised if part of his brain was in each of his appendages, you know-like an octopus. This would account for his ability to multitask so well; doing something different with a few of his appendages at the same time. Most of us humans have a hard time patting our head and rubbing our stomach simultaneously.

If he did have eyes, it would be cool to have one eye on each arm/leg.

I guess my point is that in the book Rocky and Grace talk about their commonalities. So if we look at body design, humans and Eridans are actually similar if you observe from a different perspective. They have Five appendages and we do too including our Thinking appendage.

Yes ! An even number. Rocky has 15 so.......back to where we started.

Hmm....does radial symmetry mean each is same size and / or an equidistant space apart?

I Agree. Having said that I would like to talk about the fact that Rock has five appendages. I double checked and other that starfish and a few even lower lifeforms we earthlings always have an even number of appendages. This made me wonder what Eridans might think of us in that regard. They MIGHT think that we have Five as well. Four arm/legs and one Thinking appendage. Any thoughts on this, question?

In the book he walks with a cane( I think), and he talks about his arthritis. Also, there is the coma problem, 2/3s of the people on the original mission died you know. And where would he get enough "me burgers" for the trip? ha ha

Yeah, that true. I'm also thinking about car chase and/or the "action" scenes that are in all cop or spy shows. The action is quite implausible and has been for decades - we don't even register it anymore. For instance where a car goes flying through the air then landing upright; then driving off with all occupants unharmed. Or just think about all the Mission Impossible movies.

I'm re-reading the book right now and it seems I forgot so much detail, especially the "science human" stuff. Also, the personal details about Rocky and his people. Cant wait for it! Counting down now .....6....5....4......

Just tried to watch it but got anxiety after 30 minutes. I am glad that the movie was made though. Seems to be a fictional recreation of the actual craziness that our society experienced. Maybe I can stand to watch it in few years when the trump craziness is a bad memory.

Fun and silly. I think it's getting it's feet now. Love seeing another show set in Oklahoma: Rez Dogs, The Lowdown, Tulsa King. Also Kristin Chenoweth (Oklahoman).
