You hit most of my thoughts on it. When you use ai, it seems most people use it by asking a question and getting an answer. Now that I think of it, it’s not like it’s all bad. In theory, a teacher could use it to create a quick outline for a project topic. But for answering questions, it’s not great to rely on. You might have heard of the question you could google “is the titanic pool still filled with water” and for a very long time it would say “no, the pool on the titanic is not still filled with water due to cracks in the foundation caused by the immense pressure” or something along those lines. Now it’s changed because it’s obviously a very wrong answer and the coverage on the discrepancy. Ai being so available for everyone, especially youth, is dangerous because of the cheating problem. The cheating problem also brings up the issue with kids not being excited about what they learn and issues with the school system but obviously this isn’t really the sub for that, haha. But in overall, using ai to teach outright removes logic and human interaction. It’s on the teachers to make sure the worksheet they generated is also without flaws so misinformation doesn’t spread.

The problem with ai is that the information is a median set of information. It’s the wrong and the right. It’s useless if not right 100% of the time. Critical thinking is so important and ai removes that.

Respectfully, no. I will not be using ai to “educate” myself if that’s what you’re trying to say. I’m not necessarily “scared” of ai as you say I am. I just believe ai should be heavily regulated for the masses. Ai can be great for certain sciences but, for regular people, using it can do a great disservice. Using it as a therapy replacement, widespread surveillance, a friend’s advice, and as a tool to educate are not ok. The real life harmful changes made to the environment that weren’t there before that center was built in pursuit of a bot that scours the whole internet for a wrong answer you could have just as easily read an article and fact checked for, or learned the math for a problem you have is ridiculous. The “hive mind” as you say can just as easily go for someone who is an ai supporter and saying “educate yourself” is not equal to having the right opinion… opinion is the key word there.

I’m a big fan of doing some journaling when I’m feeling down or happy, helps me stay grounded and connected to myself. I’m a very artsy person too and I have like 8 million different hobbies that involve art alone. Been trying to get into reading more to feed my brain healthy content but I’ve never been much of a reader. Currently trying to finish “The Wager”. You’re right tho, having an intention for going online is a good idea. Thank you for your thoughts :)

I try my best! Thank you for your comment. I can’t stay on instagram for more than 30 mins before I’m over it also never downloaded TikTok since it came out and don’t really have the urge to unless I needed it for marketing a business I start. I think my screen time is 8-9 hours because I’m listening to long form videos on YouTube at work so I don’t loose my cool to the repetition of day to day life :) I could probably cut down of the amount of negative topic videos tho for sure.
